Binding ties that grip the mind

Reality speaks, but so unkind

Fails to bring the healing vibe

Reminding me, things don’t jibe

Exhausted, as I trip and fall

No balance in this body, small

Wonder what it was I did not do

Always asking why, but never knew

Poisoned, I come down a notch

While others stop, and stare, and watch

As momentum drags me to my knees

Ugh! Dear God, I’m begging, please

Release my being, from this evil ride

That leaves me on the edge, wayside

Author’s note:  I am fine.  I wrote this because so many of my friends, as well as myself, are going through so many health issues, all of us, who grew up together.  You have to wonder….

I watch the Earth weep

As rain falls from a dark sky

Releasing its pain

Til light of day emerges

With colors of a rainbow

Authors Note: This was my first attempt at a Tanka.  I’m not sure if I got it right!! All comments, help, etc, are greatly appreciated!

I am honored, once again, to have one of my poems published in Vita Brevis! Many thanks to Brian Geiger, editor, for finding this piece worthy of gracing his literary publication! 🙂

I find them in the most unusual places
Little pieces of me I must have left behind
I wonder why they stopped where they did
How they settled in the forgotten cracks
Was it on purpose, or was it I no longer cared?
The particles of my life I chose to leave
Not wanting to be remembered for what was
Rather, what is, and what lies ahead
A glance in the mirror shows a different face
I battle the days when age is not a number
But a feeling, of weary bones, and creaky joints
That one cannot forget about, for another day
As I amble down the hallways, through time
A cobweb, seemingly misplaced inside
Makes me wonder if the spider, too
Has left behind her pieces, in forgotten webs
While she moves on, to find what lies ahead
And as I sweep away the…

Let me melt away the pain

That lingers on my skin

Let me release the sorrow

I hold, so deeply, within

Inches of this body writhes

As I try to hold it all together

But fate has dealt a mighty blow

And this life, I have to weather

Agony has set its pace, still

I continue, with all my might

To chase away the darkness

Choosing only to see the light

She is a natural beauty, with skin so fair

Her face reflects, in the water, where

The forest trees join her, in sweet repose

Though keeping an eye on her, lest she expose

The vulnerability, for just a moment or two

A vision of one, whose pain pulls her through

Never allowing the others, to find her like this

She keeps herself hidden, so near the abyss

Of water, before her, will she make the connection?

Is it really her, she sees, or merely nature’s reflection?
