Darkness in the distance plays, my thoughts, they start to mingle; is it calm or trepidation that makes my senses tingle? Chiseled rocks, I climb upon, careful to plant my feet; so to peer beyond the opening, then, wondering what I’ll meet.

Is it just an empty cave? Or does something live within? Do I dare to challenge this? I hesitate, as I begin. Quietly making my way inside, sneaking about, like a tiny mouse, I realize I am not alone, it is me inside this house.

Silently moving within this space, I hear her voice, to me, she is calling; “No need to be afraid, my dear”, as my legs give, but I’m not falling. I stumble, to try to find the earth, the solid ground, underneath, is no longer; ever slowly, I feel myself rising above, my spirit, growing much stronger.

I am not afraid, no fear inside, for I know no harm will come to me; I have found the entrance, to my life, where my soul can, finally, be set free.

Adrift, like the lone cloud, in the distance, I think how wonderful it could be if I, too, could do just that. Rise above the mountain tops, kissed by the sun, letting it shine on me. Or perhaps, sail off into the wilderness of the skies, to find peaceful surrender, afar, in the light of day. Then sigh, as I marvel at the lush green grass, knowing, winter is not far behind.

I shall take in all the splendid colors of autumn, tinting the land with a copper sheen, praying she would stay much longer, to adorn these old eyes. Once last glimpse, o’er the top of mighty hills, down to the valleys below, quietly lingering, until I am not one, but a blend of all, in the clouds. Serenity settles within, and I am as calm as a windless day. Tranquility conquers! No longer do I dread the silence, for it comforts my soul, drowning the din in my mind.

And once again, I am free. A single entity, flying onward, a vaporous wisp in the blue, a fleeting moment, empyrean, above the land.

The place where silence had a voice

Called to mind, but not by choice

The one she knew, who she was

Now no clue, and just because

Her life had left her, far behind

Harsh words, unsaid, so unkind

Failed her, in her darkest hours

Waited, as her heart grew sour

No noise was heard, as she spoke

No words uttered, nor evoked

The silence, had taken her last chance

No doubt, this was not happenstance

For she knew who caused this to occur

The one they called “The Saboteur”

Silent, every word, spewed madness

Her heart, overflowed, with sadness

No way to break him, this grim reaper

She knew he’d find a way, to keep her

Desolate, lies the body of William
No one knows he’s there, but him
Erected a marker, on a whim
By light of a candle, growing dim

Full moon tilts his head and smiles
Knows about William, and his wiles
Certainly, not a man who beguiles
But, one with tribulations, and trials

A lonely grave, its marker shines
With no one there, to grieve nor pine
This unknown man, created a shrine
In his name, not yours, nor mine

Alas, poor William, no one knew
He left this Earth, for a moment or two
Now flies about, his mind askew
This count of darkness, his evil, true.

The storm raged
thunderous explosions
like the Fourth of July
without its colors
rattled windows
dislocated, limbs fell
against the glass
or did they knock
asking me, to let them in
shelter from the battle
I don’t know, shades drawn
lights out, I could not see
seated in the darkness
only my shadow reflected
on the wall, as lightning
danced across the skies
illuminated, then black again
ice pellets, echoed,
the noise, like machine guns,
ravaging the night, a hunter
claimed his prey
then unexpected silence
the only sound heard
was the peaceful rain,
gently falling.

a truce…………
