Noise

Without a sound
A silent din
Ringing loudly
Drowning me
In obscure thoughts

Mangled

Between reality
And imagination
Torn between
Here and then
With no ground
On which to plant my feet

I float

In an aura
Of uninspiring glow
Quickly fading
Into darkness
Ebony night
Pale against my skin
The moon
New
Sheds no light

Yet

I seek it
Dare to emerge
Eyes open
Only to be blinded
By ignorance, arrogance
And the loss of humanity

Tis my point of view

When life stops within one’s soul

Deviancy thrives

There’s a fire in the sky,
A blaze in the night;
The phoenix has risen,
A harrowing sight.

Out of the ashes,
She burns like a flame;
Dare not touch her,
You’ll not be the same.

Anger has plagued her,
She’s out on a tear;
No mercy does she hold,
You better beware.

She’ll scald like acid,
Her touch is sure death;
Like a funeral pyre,
She’ll steal your last breath.

Coveting daylight,
She blocks out the sun
Engulfing, surrounding
There’s nowhere to run.

As she savages the land,
With a spark she does maim
Sad to say, we have only
Us humans to blame….

**Authors Note:  The incredible picture above was taken by my friend Sharon.  This was the sky, down the shore in NJ, last night.  Can you see the face in the fiery clouds? I chose to believe it was a phoenix, although I must admit it looks more devilish…

Haphazardly strung

A twisted barb penetrates

Unraveling threads

Inside, the core of despair

Tis humanity’s weakness

We polish our armor, in the hopes we look fine

But there’s a division, as to what’s yours and mine

How can we empty this hatred, from our hearts?

Let’s not bail on humanity, instead, do our part
