I wrote this in 2014 and have shared it the past few of years. It has now become my traditional Mother’s Day Poem. For all the beautiful women who bring joy and love to a child’s heart, have a blessed and beautiful day!! This will be a hard day for some of us, not being able to see our mom’s. Thank goodness for the internet!! ❤
For it beautifully blossoms
Like a rose, softly unfolding,
Enveloping,
Opening the heart,
Nurturing the soul

Pouring over rapids
Rough and raging
Briefly slowing until
They hit the rocks again
Determined to wear down
All that lies beneath
Like a cascading waterfall
Tumbling down into despair
They disappear….
Merely a drop
In the sea of sorrow

I looked
But couldn’t see
Lost along the way
From nowhere
That tiny shard,
A mere splinter
Keeping the whole complete
No holes to close
Nor open wounds to mend
Still my soul
Laid bare within
Determination faltered
Ease gave up too easily
Yet, I remained intact,
An entity
Battling the demon
In my head
Refusing
To let him win
And still I wait
Waving my white flag
Pleading
For the referee
To call the fight

There’s a stillness, a calm, surrounding night
In the air, you can smell, the scent of raindrops
Not yet formed, lingering quietly nearby
Little by little, the skies open, into silent tears
Shedding the pain, of a million crying spirits
Mourning, for the ones, who cannot mourn
Embracing the sorrow, as if it was their own
Gently washing away, the sins of the Earth
Silently cleansing each eternal soul
Then vanishing….as if the clouds were never
