A rumble comes from deep within
This is the start, it shall begin
A challenge, unknown, will I win?
I brush it off, forgotten

Until the beast does comes alive
I pray, this demon, I’ll survive
But in my body, it does thrive
Its will is born, begotten

A battlefield, my body owns
With each movement, creaks and groans
Surviving, yet these aging bones
Have trouble standing tall

I grab my shield, my mighty sword
Victory shall be my reward
Up to the top, I move toward
I refuse to let me fall

“You okay?” He asks,
“Swell”, my reply,
While wistfully staring,
And wondering why

He’d bother to ask,
Does he really care?
Or is it just habit,
Because I am there.

Time spent together,
In silence, creeps by.
No matter how much,
I just no longer try

To engage conversation,
From one, far away,
Who turns off the chatter,
Doesn’t hear what I say.

Perhaps it is me,
Who doesn’t quite hear
The words, left unsaid,
Though, the meaning is clear

So I bury myself,
In a place, tucked away
Where the silence is deafening,
But the Lord hears me pray.

Spiraling – #poetry #depression

Overwhelmed by simple tasks
What is this I have become?
Sadness, behind my smiling mask
Truth is… I am feeling numb

Emotional, at the slightest change
Tears flow, and for no reason
Even to myself, I feel quite strange
Perhaps, it is that time of season

Where leaves once painted the trees
Now they lay, lifeless and brown
I watched them whirl, in the breeze
On their way, swiftly, falling down

I can relate to the leaves, you see
I’ve spiraled with them, for so long
Much like a twister, roaming free
Yet, unknowing if I truly belong

Sun sets and moon glows, over water
Sitting on the dock, alone, a daughter

Forgotten child, hides from the light
Pondering, what to do, this night

Ocean calms, a heart beats fast
She makes a decision, final, the last

He left her standing at the altar
Tears flowing, like a sea of salt
Her body sank, her legs did falter
Knowing, in her heart, it was her fault

Moon sets and sun glows bright
Morning, does quietly awaken
Left, an umbrella, no one in sight
For her, love is now, eternally forsaken…

No End in Sight – #dark #poetry

I know not where it is, I should turn

As thoughts inside, begin to churn

An acid, meant to truly burn

A helpless moment, of which I yearn

*

To cast away, the thoughtless words

From a hateful voice, it’s so absurd

To know that I’m not really heard

My patience, buried, now interred

*

Into hopelessness, I need to fight

To end this horrid, dreadful plight

That I endure, both day and night

For where there seems, no end in sight
