She forgets the simple tasks
Ones performed most every day
Hiding cautiously, behind a mask
Knows, sometimes, life can be this way

Asks the same questions over
Then remembers, she already did
Confusion covers ground, like clover
As the memories start to skid

What’s today, she wonders aloud
The hours fly by, without worry
Afraid to ask, for she is too proud
Yet this time is becoming more blurry

A simple sigh, is all she can speak
Though her words are clear and concise
Aging, becoming fragile and weak
Growing old, she’s paying the price

What is it about Age? – #poetry of #life

The gray has taken over
Tiny lines are in pursuit
This aging thing’s a battle
Fighting back is kind of moot

I snap and pop with movement
Oh, these aching bones are rough
Okay, okay, already!
I have had ENOUGH!

They tell me I should exercise
And I do, but not the right way
Maybe that’s the reason
My pants now fit the tight way.

Next year I hit the big six-oh!
I’m not ready for that number
Unless, of course, it also comes
With lots of extra slumber!

I know I’m being silly
What is it about age?
It’s not the worst that can happen
In fact, I hear it’s all the rage!

Something everyone is doing
Whether they want to or not
I think I have decided
This age thing ain’t so hot!

As a child I was always a rambunctious thing

But I’ve mellowed as I’ve aged, and I’m lucky

To be able to spend time, with verdant spring

Meanwhile, still continuing to be, ever so plucky

Aging – #FlashFiction – #CarrotRanch

Charli, over at the Carrot Ranch gave us the prompt Growing older. Here are the rules:

In 99 words (no more, no less) write a story about growing older. It can be humorous, dark or poignant. It can be true or total fiction. It can be fine wine or an old fossil. Go where the prompt leads!

I’m living a wonderful life, though age has decreased my gait. Still, I manage to have some fun, I want to live it, before it’s too late. Life, is much too short, to leave it on the side of the road. The older I get, the more I know, take it all, before you’ve slowed.

Growing older is beautiful, I was put here, for a purpose. Until that is complete, I’ll remain here, on this surface. To live, laugh, love, play, until time is not a thought, then I’ll say I’m finally done, but… I haven’t lived for naught

Word Count: 99

Prompt: Growing Older

Welcome to ….
Not Just My Verse, Your Two Two Too!

Rory (A Guy Called Bloke) graciously tagged me to continue this aging process, like I need help. Below, I’ll tag the next victim, er, poet/writer, to carry on…with the poem. 😉

Once the poem [Verse] leaves my blog, the next blogger along can take it where ever they want with regards their own four line verse but always staying on topic.

Got it?  Remember to tag another poet to keep it going!!
Topic: The Ageing Process

The Wrong Side of 40

Rory’s Bit

Oh!
How l wish, that when l was younger,
My parents had been somewhat bolder,
Concerning the ageing process and the wonders,
Blunders, pitfalls and perils of getting older!

Dorinda’s Bit

Wrinkles in my skin have begun to bloom
I dare not look in the mirror much longer
Mom once said, child, you can forego this doom
Honestly, she couldn’t have been any wronger

My Tag Along is to Walt Page, The Tennessee Poet
