Second Guess ~ #poetry #DecemberWriting

He told them to meet him by the old garage

He would teach them a lesson, they’d see

Still, he wondered if any of them would show

Hands in pockets, he made noise, with his keys

Nervously, he waited for the boys to arrive

He thought it would be easy, it was not

And he began to doubt himself, second guess

Was it really all worth it, to be a big shot?

Author’s Note:  Parents, please teach your children the importance of kindness to others.  Being a bully isn’t cool, nor is it rewarding.  As the mom of a child who was bullied, I feel very strongly about it.  I did something to stop it, by going through the proper channels, including getting the police involved.  Don’t ignore the signs.  Pay attention.  Please…  For more info visit www.stopbullying.gov

You can feel it in the air, everything is so electric

Shoppers busy buying, stores becoming oh so hectic

Thrilling sights and sounds, yes! Christmas is so near

And of course, there’s Santa, spreading lots of cheer

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Hey there, yes, you! Do you remember me?

Come in and visit, the space is free

I’m sorry there’s no chair, for you to sit

I surely hope you and your gear can fit

I have been standing here, quite a long time

I think I’m forgotten, it should be a crime

For not long ago, I had so many friends

Why did that have to come to an end?

Oh yes, that’s right, it’s those cellular things

The ones that make noises, when they ring

But not me, I have one tone I can play

And I happen to like it, a lot, this way

So anytime you get tired, of playing around

Come back and see me, I can be found

On the sidewalk, by the lamplight, near the street

I can’t get up and leave, I have no feet

But you do, so please, don’t leave me here alone

Come back, anytime…

…signed your friend, telephone

Get Lost with Me ~ #poetry #DecemberWriting

Imagine we are lost at sea
With only ripples of water beside us
Aboard this tiny boat, with me
Just enough of a breeze to guide us

There’s no one around, for miles, and miles
Only wide open space, decked out in blue
Perhaps we just bask, in the sun, awhile
Yes, that’s exactly what I think we should do

Then let the sails take us, far, far away
And forget about life on the shores
It’s just us, and the wind, for today
I’m sure I’ve had this dream before

Waiting for Santa ~ #poetry #FOWC

Outside, there’s a magical Christmas snow

A little boy sits, by his bedroom window

Hoping he’ll see Santa, and his sleigh

With his mighty reindeer, leading the way

Imagine his excitement, a wondrous sight

As he sees him, cross the moon, this night

He was waiting to hear Santa’s Ho Ho Ho

And now, it’s off to bed, he must go!
