He held the jar up to the light
Wondering what it could be
And there, inside the honey
Was this beautiful golden key

It looked like it was floating on air
Its reflection, in the sunlit rays
How long had he had this jar?
It must have been there for days

He slowly opened the sticky lid
And beacons flew, out of the jar
Spiraling about, in the azure sky
On their way to becoming stars

He marveled at how they shot up
Into the beauty, and all that was clear
As light shined down upon him, he knew
Twas the beginning of a brand new year

December Writing Prompt – Entombed inside a jar of honey, the key could clearly be seen – Day 31/31 – Another month of prompts have ended. Hard to believe 2018 is also on its way out. Happy New Year everyone!! May it be blessed with love, joy and happiness for all!! ❤

These were not just ordinary flowers
Quite peculiar in an eerie sort of way
The more I looked at them, I knew
This wasn’t the place, for me, today

Faces started popping out, before me
Their clown-like grins, made me shiver
How could something so beautiful
Make my whole body quake and quiver!

I took off, down an odd shaped path
Hoping those purple pansies didn’t follow
Saddened, because I had left so quickly
But nothing here could make me wallow

I was afraid, to look over my shoulder
For fear I’d see an evil, floral parade
So, I kept walking, along the odd path
While, in the garden, the flowers stayed

December Writing Prompt – Planter boxes of peculiar looking pansies, lined the odd shaped path – Day 30/31

The fire had long gone out
Not even a spark remained
The clock on the wall said 2AM
And she was totally drained

She leaned against the stone
Perhaps, to feel some heat
Nary could a sound be heard
Only a thrum, like a heartbeat

She stood there, daydreaming
Knowing she should go to bed
When something eerie came over her
The alcohol had gone to her head

A sweet whisper over the silence
Shook her to her very core
Afraid to look to see who was there
Quickly, she ran, for the door

Finding there was no way out
She turned around, and then
Staring back at her, over her photo
Was dearly departed Gwen!

She screamed when realized who
Then froze, right where she stood
Gwen had no reason to come to her
She knew this couldn’t be good

Poor Sadie, she thought she was finished
When she shot her, with a gun full of lead
But Gwen wasn’t finished with Sadie
She would haunt her until she was dead

A sinking sun sets the mood, o’er the mountains

The last bell chimes, and silence fills the lands

Peacefulness reigns, with the dimming light

Which cast its shadows, across the sands

A haze falls over the country, like a slumber

Not even the chirp of crickets can be heard

And as night settles in, and day slips away

The colors of the sky, become serenely blurred

She snickered as she ran, until she noticed, behind her

The one thing she’d forgotten, was trying to remind her

It sent bands of colors, wrapped them around the air

She tried to keep running, but knew she shouldn’t dare

She turned, and watched it, slowly hit the ground

With a thunderous thud, that echoed, quite profound

The moon had finally landed, left Earth to float alone

The sun had drifted farther, chilled her to the bone

Darkness filled the sky, no more light did moon shed

Now laid still, upon the soil, the golden orb was dead

Stars flickered and cried, with the night…

…to mourn the parting of the light
