These were not just ordinary flowers
Quite peculiar in an eerie sort of way
The more I looked at them, I knew
This wasn’t the place, for me, today

Faces started popping out, before me
Their clown-like grins, made me shiver
How could something so beautiful
Make my whole body quake and quiver!

I took off, down an odd shaped path
Hoping those purple pansies didn’t follow
Saddened, because I had left so quickly
But nothing here could make me wallow

I was afraid, to look over my shoulder
For fear I’d see an evil, floral parade
So, I kept walking, along the odd path
While, in the garden, the flowers stayed

Tricks, No Treats ~ #Halloween #poetry

I heard them shout, “It’s Halloween!”

As children scurried, about the scene

Clad in costumes, their faces painted

I’m sure we’ve never been acquainted

But still they come, and ring the bell

Trick or Treat, I hear them yell

Such silly little things, are they

Who walk about and head my way

I’ll greet them with a kindly smile

And watch them grab my candy pile

Then suddenly, they’ll take off running

They think they’re sly and ever cunning

But I got them good, just wait and see

I’ve made this for them, especially

A potion, of which is quite austere

Something to make it perfectly clear

Halloween is a night for ghouls

Witches, goblins, black cats, and fools

HAPPY HALLOWEEN EVERYONE!!

He gathered them together
Every goblin, ghoul and beast
To celebrate this day with him
At the annual Frankenstein feast

Wolfman came in full attire
Alice brought a rabbit in a hat
Jack O’Lantern brought the pie
And grandpa turned up as a bat

Of course, Frank had celebrities
Most had their faces masked
He even had some other folks
Though they were never asked

But Frankie didn’t care, no sir
Everyone was welcome to crash
Clowns, kids, even Chaplin did
It was the greatest monster bash!

Carnelian and Carbuncle ~ #poetry #JuneWriting

Carnelian and Carbuncle were lovers

A secret they kept, undercover

Should the ringmaster ever find out

They’d be fired for sure, there’s no doubt

Making the others keep the secret in tact

The circus clowns would, the master, distract

So they could meet under the tent, but, in a hurry

Time was so short, they would have to scurry

Running around, all over the grounds

Trying very hard, not to make any sounds

Entertaining the people, they were a sight to see

Two elephants, under the big top, making whoopee

Seems their secret was out, oh the shame!

And they had only themselves to blame

A lesson to be learned, never trust a painted face

Everyone knows, the clowns run the whole place
