Deep down in the dungeon, noises could be heard

That rattled the bones of the dead, as they stirred

Awakened by the party, yet another drunken sot

All gathered together, twas the King, and his lot

Revelry continued, ugh, the sound was too much

They decided it was time, but what to do in a clutch?

It was Christmas, they pondered, was not Halloween

They needed a plan, should they query the Queen?

Of course not, she was one of the revelers, too

Instead, here’s what they decided they should do

Donning a Santa hat, they made their way upstairs

After all, they’re just bones, so nobody should care

They were the life of the party, how could that be?

Since they were dead, causing all that whoopee!

When everyone had gone, the King found his way

He wanted to thank them for saving the day

But nowhere could he find, those strange unknowns

All they left behind, were a few broken bones…

No matter what time of year, far or near

Gather together, the ones you hold dear

Reminisce about the days, when life was a trip

Remember to cherish, such lasting friendships

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Galaxies full of wondrous delight

Tis a small child’s endless dream

To spin with celestial floating orbs

In such a beautiful astral scene

Even his shadow’s along for the fun

Still, he’s far away from the skies

With colors igniting his imagination

There’s a spark, a gleam, in his eyes

So fascinated, by the universe above

He stops, for a moment, to stare

Wondering what it is that he’ll need

To explore these worlds, up there

A Warm Blanket ~ #poetry #DecemberWriting

A blanket he kept, so soft and warm
Held the faintest hint of her perfume
He refused to toss it, into the wash
The fragrance would no longer loom

Her coffee mug and glasses, sat there
On the patio table, they were waiting
For her to return, to finish her book
The one, she said, was so frustrating

He made sure the candle was burning
Should she return to this place, near dark
So he sat on the porch swing, humming
Like they used to do, in the county park

A heavy sigh, now escaped his lips
As he slowly stood, to go back inside
He couldn’t bear to blow out the candle
So he stood there instead, and just cried

The love of his life was no longer
Her dreams were never quite fulfilled
He gathered her warmth, from the blanket
But he still couldn’t evade death’s chill

The sky looked dismal, I expected it to rain

Of course, no umbrella, it’s always the same

But to my surprise, the rain never showed

Instead, white flakes fell, as beautiful snow
