Had to warm my thumb up, get ready for the hike

Across the universe, I couldn’t take my bike

I didn’t have the money, to go by space shuttle

Besides I’d probably get lost, in between the scuttle

I needed to hitchhike, and hope I’d make it through

Or else be caught in outer space, with nothing much to do

I stood by the tower, poised and anxiously waiting

I could see my destination, this was so frustrating!

No one was coming by, all I needed was a ride

Through the door to the galaxy, far on the other side

I thought about jumping, but decided that wouldn’t do

I’d never make it off the ground, besides I liked the view

And so I stood here, pondering, I guess I’ll stay here

Look across the Milky Way, as just a mere sightseer

Perhaps, if I look closely, I may even spot Janus

Maybe then, I’ll find my way, next stop, Uranus!

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Ah, the festival of lights, to honor La Lune

He had waited to see them, soaring high

And the gods of the sky, all came to watch

Showing their presence, in an Earthly sky

One by one, the glow of the lanterns flew

From streets below, to the heavens above

With the planets dancing, as planets do

Once again, with the sky, he’d found his love

Gazing into the night, allowed him to dream

The possibilities were endless, he was sure

As long as the gods, were pleased with these gifts

Something, he always hoped, he had procured

Galaxies full of wondrous delight

Tis a small child’s endless dream

To spin with celestial floating orbs

In such a beautiful astral scene

Even his shadow’s along for the fun

Still, he’s far away from the skies

With colors igniting his imagination

There’s a spark, a gleam, in his eyes

So fascinated, by the universe above

He stops, for a moment, to stare

Wondering what it is that he’ll need

To explore these worlds, up there

In the pages of this book, is where it begins

When evening falls, tis there, I fit in

Watching the stars that gently glisten

In the dark of night, I shall sit and listen

As the moon recites with much detail

How the sun and the planets all prevail

He tells of how, the birds do try

To reach him, far up in the sky

How the twilight shines, in all its glory

Oh, how the moon does tell his story

I could stay here, with him, evermore

For his light always reaches, to my very core

And in this place, I find sweet tranquility

Lost to the moon, in a realm of possibility

Goodnight, sweet orb, as I now close this book

Out the window, I stare, yes, for just one more look

Jupiter decided to take over Earth
A much larger planet was he
So he jumped over Mars
Left behind many stars
Claiming this would be Earth’s apogee

Earth just smiled, as she waited
Tempted Jupiter to take his shot
Sent him off, quite impaired
Turned around and declared
It would seem that size matters not!
