In his wildest dreams, he was a pirate
A swashbuckler much better than Kidd
Though merely a fantasy, his free spirit
Nearly did him in, oh, God forbid!

Found himself a lady, the finest, was she
Treated her poorly, and it cost him
When he wasn’t looking, went on a spree
Left him with nothing, but exhaustion

When realizing he had nothing to wear
He went out, and found himself a sewer
Turns out, it’s the sister, he took to his lair
Only the devil, it appears, didn’t know her

Promising to make him the best costume ever
Sneering, he said, get to it, I will not pester
When finished, presented him, her endeavor
Laughed, because she made it out of polyester

He wondered aloud, how could this be right?
This fabric is horrid on the skin, it itches!!
He looked for her, but she fled, in the night
Now he’s stuck, with irritated britches

May Writing Prompts – The Devil Wears Polyester – Day 31/31 – Hard to believe another month has passed, and June is knocking on our door! The twisted book titles were a blast. Next months prompts are sure to catch your fancy…a little bit different than what you’re used to.   😉

In the twilight hours, when madness sets in
And the darkness engulfs you, when terror begins

Blurred in reality, a turn of events
Nothing around you makes any sense

Longing for sanity to visit again
Never really knowing where it has been

Torturing dreams that fly through the night
Grasping and grabbing, in torrid delight

Cause you to stumble, turn away from the real
In the hands of the devil, your soul, his steal.

He spews hell’s flame, like venom
Fiery eyes, poisoned tears, erupting
An evilness, lurking, across his face
This is the time, he finds disrupting

Too many humans, spreading the word

Oh, how he thought, this is so absurd

A battle he knew, would never be won

He was outnumbered, by Father and Son

Waiting, his minions, there at his feet
Watching the time slip, slowly away
No one came calling, he felt the defeat
Perhaps, another time, another day

Rejoicing sounds, from high above

Joy fills the World, with God’s Holy Love

An Open Door ~ #dark #poetry

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

In keeping with the dark theme that always accompanies Halloween, I have written this poem.

An open door, in which to climb

Barred by metal fences, twined

I can only peer into the dark

And hope the sun creates a spark

To light the inner chamber, where

So many have be locked, in there

Let me free them, from this cell

Unlock these wicked Gates of Hell

Where no man, has been freed

Thrown aside, for sins, and greed

But I know better, the Devil’s game

Sadistic, he, never taking blame

I’ve called him out, I’ve come to fight

To save these humans from their plight.

But who will come, to rescue me

And save me from this…insanity

He lays out the mask, pitchfork and a rose
His plans for the night? Only he knows
What he has hiding, up his sleeve
Such devilish deeds, he does conceive

She comes through the door, tired and weary
The scene on the bed, makes it quite eerie
Afraid to get closer, she gasps, backs away
He’s standing behind her, ready to play

Whispered seduction, his breath on her face
Desirous thoughts, as their bodies embrace
Warming to him, she gives in for the night
Unveiling the secrets, of the Devil’s delight
