Cloaked in red, she stands in prayer
What lurks behind, she is unaware

Within her hands she holds the key
To unlock this forest’s mystery

But she is the only one to know
Will never let these secrets go

Though another lies in wait
For that perfect moment, unlock the fate

Of all who dwell within these woods
To release the forest’s ghostly goods

At last she senses, this maiden fair
Of who he is, she best beware

As he creeps closer, where she stands
And reaches out his unearthly hands

In hopes he can retrieve this key
Believes it belongs to only he

One more step, he is oh so near
And just like that, she disappears

Never able to uncover the mystery
It is locked away, the key, with she.

Could this, perchance, be how it rains?

Not within the clouds, but far above

A whispering sound, harmonic strains

Against the coo of the mourning dove

A river wide, flanked by verdant hills

Trees and fronds lay still in the breeze

In the distant, the calls of the whippoorwills

Telling tales, as assuredly, they tease

For they know the secret, hidden so well

When the banks of the river do sigh

Water pours down from a heavenly cell

Tis how rain really falls from the sky

Colleen’s poetry challenge for this week is Poet’s Choice. I chose to write an Easter Shadorma.

Easter morn

With smiling faces

Kiddies seek

Their treasure

No one dares tell them the truth

It is a secret

HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!! ❤

In secret

She whispers to her

Desires

Fantasies

Ones she keeps close to her heart

Hidden tightly there

Worn pages, bring to light

Another secret, to disclose

He taps the keys, oh so right

Out comes his vivid prose

Words, which pour this story

On a screen, aglow in night

Emotions, times of glory

That made things look so bright

Other times, not so well

He chooses to leave them be

Perhaps it’s because he cannot tell

Though the truth will set him free

Hands linger, for just awhile

His thoughts, much cause for rage

Caught was he, in his own guile

No longer able to disengage
