Cloaked in red, she stands in prayer
What lurks behind, she is unaware

Within her hands she holds the key
To unlock this forest’s mystery

But she is the only one to know
Will never let these secrets go

Though another lies in wait
For that perfect moment, unlock the fate

Of all who dwell within these woods
To release the forest’s ghostly goods

At last she senses, this maiden fair
Of who he is, she best beware

As he creeps closer, where she stands
And reaches out his unearthly hands

In hopes he can retrieve this key
Believes it belongs to only he

One more step, he is oh so near
And just like that, she disappears

Never able to uncover the mystery
It is locked away, the key, with she.

On the ledge

Lost to the night sky

She, alone

Sits, waiting

With starry eyes gazing fast

At her beloved

A story was told, by a little girl
To her teddy bear, named Harvey
A tale about a wonderful place
You could say, it was, quite marvey!

She told him, of a land, so far
Where people played all day
Beneath the shining sunlit sky
Among the golden rays.

And as she told her story
Harvey smiled, as teddy’s do
He knew the perfect ending
To make Junie smile, too.

With a wink of his eye, enchanted
He sparked the pages, bright
With bursts of yellow sunbeams
Oh, such a fabulous sight!

Junie started to giggle
She was happy as could be
Harvey, he held a secret
Yes! A magical bear, was he

Country girl

Left home readily

Big city

Brighter lights

Her daddy worried himself

Little girl no more

So many times she would walk by that jar

The one they kept hidden, near the trees

And though they told her never to touch it

She did exactly what wasn’t meant to be

Quickly, gathering the jar, in her hands

She ran off, beyond her home and her kin

Sitting down, for just for a mere moment

Mesmerized by the light, emanating within

Curiosity, got the better of her, poor girl

Needing to know, if the fire would grow

Opening the lid, without warning, it flew

Escaping in the forest, as fast as it could go

A look of surprise came across her face

When she realized what she had done

The light of day, suddenly began to glow

From a jar, in the forest, of the rising sun
