January’s prompts where a fun combination of ~M and myself.  We challenged you to figure out who was who.  Did you guess?  Some of you were spot on, others, not so much!  The following poem is my finale to this month.  I’m still challenging you!  😉

Let me know, dear people, who was who, and how did you tell?

Some were done by little ole me, and the others, were by Michelle

We write in very similar ways, why, some even say we are sisters

But it’s a secret, I can’t say, only ones to know, are the misters

January, a month of prompts, blended perfectly together, by two

Beguiling or dark, whimsical or romantic, which ones did you do?

Alas, it now has come to an end, and February is calling my name

This time, it’s all up to ~M, so she’s the one you’ll have to blame!

A simple reason was all she needed

To cover her face, and close her eyes

Sighing, with every ounce of her being

Realizing, this, was her final disguise

Staying well hidden, from the others

Who had intentions, for her, in mind

Men and women, alike, she had trusted

Most of them, she realized, quite unkind

Her only chance, at surviving this plight

Knowing nothing else mattered, you see

She simply would, disappear, in the night

Leaving nothing behind, but a mystery

Where once was a door, is no longer there

Only bricks, and cracks, filled the space

I seem to remember, he, who lived here

Though I cannot, really, remember his face

Walking closer, I had to examine the wall

I really wished I weren’t so nearsighted

I, somehow, knew this wouldn’t be good

Then it hit me, twas a love, unrequited

In the blink of an eye, it had happened

The door that once was, had returned

He pulled me through, no way to go back

Tis what happens, when a lover is spurned

All that Chatter – #poetry – #JanuaryWriting

I don’t know how it happened, how they locked me in this cage

They’re outside, chattering, while I’m stuck here, enraged

They’ve a warped sense of humor, I need time to figure this out

Somehow I have to open the door, I can’t just sit here and pout

Don’t worry, I won’t do that, I’m nothing like dogs, no way

I’m superiority at my very best, soon, I’ll make those birds pay

Three against one, a bit unfair, as in this cage, I ponder

All these hours, chatting away, is too much time to squander!

I have to stay alert, and wait, the timing must be right

A distraction would be helpful, I can’t stay in here, all night

Finally! They’ve stopped that noise, are they now asleep?

I’m trying to look around at them, I mustn’t make a peep

Looks like they’re dozing, sounds good, I think I will partake

Curling up in sweet silence…

Their squawking, gave me a headache!

So many times she would walk by that jar

The one they kept hidden, near the trees

And though they told her never to touch it

She did exactly what wasn’t meant to be

Quickly, gathering the jar, in her hands

She ran off, beyond her home and her kin

Sitting down, for just for a mere moment

Mesmerized by the light, emanating within

Curiosity, got the better of her, poor girl

Needing to know, if the fire would grow

Opening the lid, without warning, it flew

Escaping in the forest, as fast as it could go

A look of surprise came across her face

When she realized what she had done

The light of day, suddenly began to glow

From a jar, in the forest, of the rising sun
