A light from above, ethereal, beams
Illuminating thoughts, sacred dreams
Where reality is no longer as it seems
The illusion becomes too real

I look up to the moon, see her smile
Wondering if she’ll let me stay awhile
Ah, but too far, so many miles
Still my heart, she sweetly heals

An open window, and I shiver
This luminous orb, makes me quiver
While fantasies, she does deliver
Keeping me on an even keel

Alas, my eyelids begin to close
This is her magic, I suppose
Sweet Luna, you’re the one I chose
Only you know how I feel…

Sky is red, beyond the pane

Spell book opens, once again

Glows in a fiery orange flame

Speaks to me, calling, a name

Who is it, I begin to obsess?

Has it come, for me, to possess?

A spark of desire, from within

Incantations, will now, begin

I watch, the fire, burning bright

Embers seeking, in mid-flight

Touch my skin, no burn I feel

Awaken, but this, was oh so real!

Sky is red, beyond the pane

Spell book closes, once again

A scholar of 20, she’d made her mama proud. But what mama didn’t know, was how, exactly, she had achieved this. Not a very good student, Alicia barely made it out of high school. She never gave college a thought. Let’s face it, she hated school, and everything to do with it, especially the cliques. Others thought her quirky, and not worthy of befriending, and so she spent much time alone.

One day, a woman, who had been watching Alicia for some time, approached her with a proposition that made Alicia’s eyes light up. She never hesitated. This was her chance to prove it to all of them that she was somebody.

Now, standing in front of her college class, as valedictorian, she smiled, nodded, and then disappeared. She reappeared in the back of the rows, though no one knew she was there. She stayed still, wondering how her class would react. They looked puzzled, but no one was actually LOOKING for her.  Nothing had changed, so she walked out of the building, and never went back.

Years later, some still talk about the day Alicia Harding disappeared, especially the old woman who lives in a ragged old tent, just outside of town. Quietly selling her herbs and potions, she loves to tell the story over and over, to anyone who will give her the time of day. Her recollection is as vivid as if it had happened that very morning. And to Alicia, it had.

Melted wax and a bowl of crushed herbs gave away the truth. Sylvester was at it, again. Always dabbling in magic, he’d make such a mess of things. Lighted candles dripped, over Isabelle’s fine linens.

The window, left open, caused the herbs to swirl, sending them into the air. But, Sylvester was nowhere to be found. His belongings, scattered, appeared as if someone had looked for something. Perhaps it was he they were looking for. Isabelle scanned the room, then closed the window.

The candle flickered and went out.

Smiling, ever slightly, Isabelle sighed. “Finally. I’ve had enough of him”

They dance, under the cover of night,

Disguised as snowflakes, tinged with light,

Filling the darkness, glistening bright,

Behold in the distance, a beautiful sight

Flittering about, whispers unheard,

Each to the other, without saying a word,

Not even a rustle, nor song, from a bird,

Yet, something inside you, is easily stirred.

Watch them carefully, for soon they’ll go,

This vision, you thought, was only snow,

No trace will they leave, but, this you’ll know,

Real, are the fairies, and the magic they bestow.
