Cloaked in red, she stands in prayer
What lurks behind, she is unaware
Within her hands she holds the key
To unlock this forest’s mystery
But she is the only one to know
Will never let these secrets go
Though another lies in wait
For that perfect moment, unlock the fate
Of all who dwell within these woods
To release the forest’s ghostly goods
At last she senses, this maiden fair
Of who he is, she best beware
As he creeps closer, where she stands
And reaches out his unearthly hands
In hopes he can retrieve this key
Believes it belongs to only he
One more step, he is oh so near
And just like that, she disappears
Never able to uncover the mystery
It is locked away, the key, with she.

Oh, to lie, on silken sand
To watch your body, ever tanned
Drown my sorrows, at your command
I sink, slowly, into the void.
A fiery heart, to you I’m drawn
The light that shines, erases dawn
Though awake, sleepily, I yawn
Your wiles have been deployed.
Set the night, on full display
Darkness washes day away
You’ve captured me, so I stay
My will has been destroyed.
You toy with emotions, only mine
While in the sand, you draw the line
Dare me to cross your great divine
Tis this night I have fully enjoyed.

The storm raged
thunderous explosions
like the Fourth of July
without its colors
rattled windows
dislocated, limbs fell
against the glass
or did they knock
asking me, to let them in
shelter from the battle
I don’t know, shades drawn
lights out, I could not see
seated in the darkness
only my shadow reflected
on the wall, as lightning
danced across the skies
illuminated, then black again
ice pellets, echoed,
the noise, like machine guns,
ravaging the night, a hunter
claimed his prey
then unexpected silence
the only sound heard
was the peaceful rain,
gently falling.
a truce…………
