I don’t know how it happened, how they locked me in this cage

They’re outside, chattering, while I’m stuck here, enraged

They’ve a warped sense of humor, I need time to figure this out

Somehow I have to open the door, I can’t just sit here and pout

Don’t worry, I won’t do that, I’m nothing like dogs, no way

I’m superiority at my very best, soon, I’ll make those birds pay

Three against one, a bit unfair, as in this cage, I ponder

All these hours, chatting away, is too much time to squander!

I have to stay alert, and wait, the timing must be right

A distraction would be helpful, I can’t stay in here, all night

Finally! They’ve stopped that noise, are they now asleep?

I’m trying to look around at them, I mustn’t make a peep

Looks like they’re dozing, sounds good, I think I will partake

Curling up in sweet silence…

Their squawking, gave me a headache!

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Oh my, Petunia, this is just what we need

Do you think anyone will notice, if we go?

Her cat looked out, in a most curious way

Not quite sure what happened to the snow

Through the door of her dreams, lay a beach

Blue skies, white clouds, and palm trees sway

Not like back home, with the dark and drear

Where the days were nothing more than gray

The sun brightened, as they stood there in awe

Warmth filled this place, not covered in white

Surely, they wouldn’t miss them, for a short while

The one’s left back home, on that cold winter night

Lurking behind the closet door
I see green eyes flash, in the light
Curiosity gets the better of me
And I investigate, into the night

I can’t seem to find whatever it was
That had me looking for it here
Maybe I’m imagining things
Lately, my mind hasn’t been very clear

I sit back on the fluffy pillows
Propped high upon my bed
And listen for any kind of noise
Seems I hear nothing instead

Then all at once, there it is,
The rumble that isn’t my tummy
Finally realizing what it could be
The sound now seems rather chummy

A charismatic feline steps into the room
Nonchalantly, leaps onto the bed
Rubs up against me, waves it tail
Then sits down near my frazzled head

I don’t remember having a cat
In fact I’m pretty sure I never did
But looks like this one’s here to stay
Lest I kick him out, God forbid!

I fluff up my pillow, and try to relax
Where did he come from, I don’t know
But when I go to lay down my head
The little rascal has stolen my pillow!

Author’s note:  Should a cute furry find its way to my home, I would never kick it out.  However, I am allergic to cats, so I would keep it, until I could find it a furrever home.

No matter how hard she would try
She couldn’t get rid of her glitches
She’d waddle around, like ducks do
But eventually, wind up with stitches

Poor Matilda, was in need of a bubble
To keep herself from constantly falling
Today was no different than the others
This time, the poor dear met her calling

She tripped over her own two feet
Couldn’t upright herself, needed help
But all she could do was flap and weep
And let out a pathetic little yelp

When all hope had seemed to fade away
She looked up and saw him standing there
He extended his paw, to help her up
Matilda took it, without nary a care

Now they sit by the tree, quite merrily
No reason for either of them to groan
Happy ever after, they live, quite verily
Just two glitches, whose stitches were sewn

Killing Curiosity ~ #poetry #NovemberWriting

They claim that curiosity
Is not too kind to kitty
Seems most humans don’t know much
Yes, the cat is clever, and witty

Curiosity knows nothing
About our inquisitive feline friends
They have nine lives, no more, no less
Their story just transcends

Their truly natural instincts
Are what cause them most dismay
But there is just one more thing
That keeps them most at bay

A kitty’s life may vary
All depends on who they own
That’s right, no human ever
Sat upon their kitty’s throne

For your cat’s the boss, no doubt
Tis why they strut around the house
Aloof, is their demeanor
While they’re stalking that damn mouse

So let them do as they deem right
Lest they label you a rat
Perhaps, it’s then, you’ll realize
Curiosity, never killed the cat
