Numb, against the muted light
Shining through the open window;
Curtains blowing in the breeze
Of windless air, no movement,

I feel for you

The emptiness, floods the room
With a blinding fury, an anger
From inside of me, masquerading
As sunbeams, filtering
Through my fingertips,
Escaping my grasp, particles
Dissipating, consuming oxygen,

I cannot breathe

An iciness, this cold, surrounds
My darkness, plays with my soul;
It does not melt away, nor deliquesce
As shadows block the warmth
And take no pity, suffocate and bury me,
Gasping, for that one last breath….

I awaken

Morning, opening her sleepy eyes

To the sky, and the clouds, like ashes,

Blowing slowly across the heavens,

Chasing away the night.

The glow, an ember in the dark,

A kindling, gently stoking, reigniting,

Until the flames catch fire,

And the sun begins another day

He scattered my thoughts

Paled the vivid colors, blocked,

Then frightened away my dreams

He was darkness, the ebony night;

Chasing shadows round my head,

His visions, quite obscene

Like a nightmare, far too real;

My slumber, shackled,

Chained, within my silent scream

He held the key, I’m no longer free

From the darkness of my memory

The skies open up

And raindrops begin to fall

When a cloud sneezes
