Awakening, from a nightmare
I realize, I’m not asleep
Try to pull the blankets up
Find them tangled, in a heap
Sweat pours down, like waterfalls
I try to wipe it, with the sheet
Suddenly, I’m freezing
But, can only feel the heat
Fire blazes before me
Flames devour what’s around
The din, it is quite deafening
But I cannot hear a sound
It dares me to snap out of it
Snap out of what? I have to ask
This dream has taken over
And it’s taken me to task
Of waking to reality, where
The walls don’t suffocate
Breaking free from what possesses me
I tempt the hands of fate
