Locked away, a mind, alone
Why she’s here, must not be condoned

They took her, from her family, where
She lived, in sin, a life, unfair

Mother made her wash the beds
Father, made her lie, instead

Abused, now merely an empty shell
How could he put her through this hell?

A man, she trusted, left her bare
Tangled up, in strands of hair
He laughed, as she cried, in despair
Wishing to wake from this nightmare

One day, she ran, into the street
Finally admitting, this was her defeat

Calamitous screams, they ran to her side
Standing there naked, she’d no sense of pride

Sirens came calling, the jury was heard
Guilty, they said, was the only word

Grateful, she smiled, for saving her life
No longer abused, no longer in strife

The windows gave no warning

Of the madness kept inside

She walked in silence, mourning

Searching for the soul who died

Wandering about, unknowing

She was quite simply an aberration

A mind filled with naught, overflowing

Condemned, in her own damnation

Scared for Good ~ #poetry #dark

In a darkened place, beside a tree
A rusted, old, antiquated jalopy
Sat with no driver, appeared empty
Not really sure how this could be

The headlights were on, beaming
Light through the fog, streaming
In the distance, someone screaming
Please wake me up, I must be dreaming!

This nightmare has gone too far
I can’t get away, from this wicked car
I’m not even sure where we are!
This whole thing is quite bizarre

Wait. What do I mean saying we?
All this time, I thought, it’s only me
I’m not really sure what it is I see
But this forest has become too creepy

Half asleep, I try to make my way back
Through the foggiest mist, in the black
Of night, where the spirits always attack
And I find myself, way off track

Fumbling around, looking for light
Not another soul, within my sight
Thank goodness, that would be a fright
If someone else, came out, in the night

Running blindly, through the wood
Flashbacks of evil, a lost childhood
I’d awaken myself, if I could
Nightmares keep you, scared, for good

Days Grow Dim ~ #NaPoWriMo #darkpoetry

I can feel the soothing drops of rain

Seeping through the pores of my skin

Washing away the hurt and pain

Cleansing my soul, from deep within

Reaching inside, I drown in my sorrow

Letting it dwell, in a pool of my blood

Wondering, will I see tomorrow?

I open my heart, to let in the flood

That swiftly carries my lifeless limbs

Down a river that has no name

Tis then I realize, my days grow dim

Once again, I’m the one who’s to blame

There was nothing ugly about her

Feathers glistening, meant to stun

A tuft of white, hidden beneath her

Nature’s Beauty, cannot be undone

Gliding, gracefully, in waters green

She shines, with the morning sun

Ebony gleams, in the light of day

As a swan, she is second to none
