I scull these endless miles, no sleep

To hide the pain that’s hidden deep

With every breath inhaled, I ache

And wonder how much more I’ll take

Before, at last, my final bow

Will release my soul, which cries, but now

I will forge my way, to alleviate this mood

Lest I spend my life, in a constant brood

For this pain doesn’t have control over me

I am the victor, I will set myself free

Row across the river, with courage and fortitude

Where adversity will never, again, intrude

Dancing on air, no ground for their feet

The music is silent, hearing only the beat

Of two hearts, together, perfect symmetry

Afloat on the wind, their minds, fancy free

Bodies in motion, no matter the space

No need for frilly, they are elegant grace

Flying high, still, they’ve new heights to discover

Their movements in sync, each one, the other

Author’s note: I chose to write the opposite (antonym) of Michelle’s prompt.

Noiseless, like a child

Safely tucked in a blanket

Crocus sleep through night

Remember the magic, once held in your hand
Cast out to the waters, like fine grains of sand
Washed away in the mist, headed out to the sea
Mystical feelings that aren’t meant to be

Left on the rocks, all alone, with the wind
That caresses your hair, swirls, then rescinds
Like the love you once felt, deep in your heart
That spell has been broken, and it tears you apart

Leaving you to search for the answers, anew
Praying toward the light, in the sky, above you
Seeking, and yet, there is nothing to find
You wonder why life, must be so unkind

Still, you remain, under a spell, which you cast
Forgetting the others, from your quite human past
In agony, you struggle, as part woman, part fish
To remember the magic, tis your one final wish

Carnelian and Carbuncle ~ #poetry #JuneWriting

Carnelian and Carbuncle were lovers

A secret they kept, undercover

Should the ringmaster ever find out

They’d be fired for sure, there’s no doubt

Making the others keep the secret in tact

The circus clowns would, the master, distract

So they could meet under the tent, but, in a hurry

Time was so short, they would have to scurry

Running around, all over the grounds

Trying very hard, not to make any sounds

Entertaining the people, they were a sight to see

Two elephants, under the big top, making whoopee

Seems their secret was out, oh the shame!

And they had only themselves to blame

A lesson to be learned, never trust a painted face

Everyone knows, the clowns run the whole place
