Join me every day at Noon EST for the continuing adventures of the bungling detective, N. Owl, in her quest to bring the mastermind, ~M, to justice!

There was no right as to what I was about to do. In fact, I’m not even sure it was wrong. But that didn’t make any sense at all. Isn’t there always a right to a wrong and vice versa? Let’s get down to the facts.

It all began back in September 2017. Words began appearing in a numerical order on a website called “Putting My Feet in the Dirt”. That should have been my first clue. Who puts their feet in dirt? Maybe I should give it a try? Okay, I’m going off the scent here. Where was I? Oh yes, the dirt. No, words! That’s it. These words were carefully placed upon the page, and taunting others to take them and do with them as they pleased. I couldn’t pass up the opportunity so of course, I took a few. A few grew into more and more.

I think I finally figured out her plan of attack. The more she listed, the more you fell into her trap. Every day, people would pop over to see what words of wisdom she was sharing with the world. Sometimes, she even wrote a poem herself. I’m sure it was, merely, to throw us off the track.

It’s a new month, and alas the infamous ~M has come up with yet even more unscrupulous ideas, and still, they are disguised as writing prompts. You see, I know what she’s up to. I’ve been following this trail for some 10 months now, heading into month eleven. I’m determined to find out just what this mastermind has in store for those she has reeled in with her shenanigans.

Stay tuned for more from this crime solving wordsmith…

Certain Doom ~ #poetry

An open portal, a light shines through
Illuminating the walls, but who

Has opened up, this once locked door
And casts no shadow, upon the floor

No figure leaves its shape or form
Surely, this is not the norm

So I approach the space with care
Afraid, of what I might find there

Footsteps clack, upon the stone
Now I know, for sure, I’m not alone

And yet, there’s no one standing near
I wait, for someone to appear

Hold my breath, try not to blink
What little courage, begins to sink

The light, again, begins to grow
I turn, but there’s no place to go

Only one way out, the door, awaits
It seems, at last, I’ve sealed my fate

The signs, have all been crystal clear here
And now it seems, I’ll disappear here

I had no reason, to enter his tomb
The castle has spoken, my certain doom

Another month of prompts are done

At last, I’ll get to see the sun

See, M had me hunkered down in here

My family thought I disappeared

Except for the constant keyboard clacking

That got to be quite nerve-racking!

But I never gave up, no sir, not me

The challenge was issued, twas M’s decree

So I sat there for hours, typing away

The sun came and went, I think yesterday

That makes this the very last day of June

The final prompt, I’m over the moon!

Because pounding my head, gave me a contusion

Thank God, this is my cockamamie conclusion

Author’s note: June was a blast!  I cannot wait for M’s July writing prompts.  I absolutely love them!

Child of fire
Change has come
As you lie upon your bed
Embers glow
As wings unfold
And human skin is shed

Alluring in its mystery
The tales of fire’s truth
Intoxicating spirit
It claims a young girl’s youth

Child of fire
Sleep upon
Your bed now made of flame
A fiery heart
The dragon’s call
Whispering your name

She stuck to his side, like a barnacle at sea

Attracted to him, but a bit too smutty

He ignored her advances, brushed off moves

Letting her know, he would never approve

Of the way she clung, to his macho physique

Loving the way, he exuded mystique

But he wanted nothing, to do with her

Scrapping away, like a mad saboteur

Finally, he was able to release from her grip

A bodacious barnacle, had no place on his ship
