A brilliant explosion, of light ‘cross the lake

Made the waters ripple, the ground, shake

Made colors shine, white, orange and green

An ethereal spark, like you never have seen

But what caused this light, to covet the land?

Surely, this wasn’t done, by one human hand

Perhaps, it is magical, a release, into stars

That cling to the night, in the sky’s reservoir

Then fall to the earth, with a dazzling flame

Such a radiance, only the heavens, could claim

I Let You Throw Daggers ~ #dark #poetry

I let you throw daggers at me, from afar

You watched, as my heart slowly bled

Piercing my chest, this imminent pain

I wondered if you wished I was dead

The anger in your eyes, unsettling

They were blank, I was no longer there

You killed me, without saying a word

I knew now, you just didn’t care

Years of fighting within myself

Excuses, kept me hidden in the dark

Trying to cover the scars on my soul

Sadly, your hate left its mark

Behind the mask, lies an elegant face

Bedeviled by those, they, who will debase

She hides who she is, to keep them at bay

Wondering how she ever got this way

They tease, as if they’ll win the catch

She knows better, no chance to scratch

The surface, of which she hides, deep below

Never letting them in, nor letting them go

Beneath her, she glows, a glittering shine

Laughs, as they falter, these ignorant swine

For there was just he, who kept her in throes

A scoundrel, she would never dare oppose

The scars that have her, they hide her shame

For only she knows, she’s the one, to blame

Distant Shores ~ #DailyPostPrompt

Through faraway lands and distant shores

We sailed with the waters, like ravaged whores

Crossing the ocean, to find what was ours

Clawing and scratching, tearing at scars

Opening wounds, those we best not forget

These were the ones, filled with little regret

They showed just who we were all meant to be

Our struggles were real, as we returned to the sea

The mirror lies
Reflections tell tales
Truth
But she won’t accept
The lines of her life

The cosmetic cover up
Hiding the scars
Of years gone by
Brushed on perfection
Cut with a knife

Lines and imperfections
Smoothed over
Chemical peels
Strip her past
Beauty is only skin deep

Adorning the colors
Made up for the day
Ready to take on the world
Wrinkled
The lines are too steep

Hands grip the mirrored frame
She’s afraid to break the hold
Worry and fret
Become her regret
Alas, she is just growing old
