River ripples, oft plangent, I can hear her sigh

Why do I care to linger about anyway?

I bid her a gentle wave, a reluctant goodbye

Then wonder if she’ll take me, as a stowaway

Along the banks they stand, proudly, and wait

The misty morning, always, coveting their fate

Statuesque, majestic trees, one after the other

Try to shake the gloom, as limbs begin to shudder

From tiny particles, tis the rime, of winter’s bane

All they want is warmth, to ease the chilling pain

But alas, when day is over, and the sunlight strays

Evening settles in with more, of that melancholic haze

There was no other way to describe her
Rather pitiful, was what came to mind
A lady should never be locked out
Gentlemen must learn to be kind
Every day, no words would be spoken
Destitute, bewildered and broken
You have to wonder how this can occur
She held onto the rose, so tightly
Painfully feeling the thorns
Everything she knew, was gone
Leaving her sad, and forlorn
Love was all that she wished for
Even her harlequin heart knew why
Desperately seeking happiness
Melancholic, all she did was cry
I tried to comfort her, offered my hand
She refused me, so sad to see
Every bit the lost soul, as she sat and waited
Reminded me only of me
Yearning, no longer to be, a forgotten, sweet tragedy

Do I dare to dream, in morning light?

Or toss these thoughts aside?

Promises cast upon the sea

Swept away, with the evening tide

I walk along these rocky shores

In hopes that I may find

A trace of you, a subtle hint

Or something left behind

I stand here, chasing shadows

Found in the water’s swell

They circle close, around my soul

Then wish a fond farewell

Was it you I caught a glimpse of?

Can you see me waiting here?

Yes, I will stand upon this ocean

Til you let me know you’re near
