Deep within the mountains
On a planet, away, but not far
There lives a different people
Who watch the yonder star

And pray it hears them calling
So they may leave this place
To find themselves a better world
Much warmer, than outer space

Here, they live in drifts of snow
Piled high and out of reach
No chance for them, to escape
These walls they cannot breach

Still they can’t help but wonder
As each day, the light grows dim
How they might venture out
But things look mighty grim

No one hears them, as they shout
Most refuse to believe it’s not fiction
And so they remain, forlorn, forgotten
Humans, once, an Earthly depiction

Humans continuously undermine, this place we call our home

Seldomly, do they realize, they’re leaving Earth, in disrepair

Our planet should be flourishing, not wan, nor monochrome

People need to wake up, and stop acting like they don’t care

If we don’t take care, of our planet Earth

We’ll be lost in this place, once paradise

We must remember, everything’s worth

With each decision, we must pay a price

Spinning and spiraling, in total control

Its course set, for certain destruction

Sights zoomed in, on the planet ahead

All were ready, for another abduction

Colorful bands, swirling round and round

Meant to mesmerize the lower beings

In yellows and reds, violets and greens

Made this vision, a sight so worth seeing

Unaware of its diabolical plans, were they

No room for both of them, in outer space

This prismatic entity, was well on its way

To, at last, eliminate, the human race

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Ah, the festival of lights, to honor La Lune

He had waited to see them, soaring high

And the gods of the sky, all came to watch

Showing their presence, in an Earthly sky

One by one, the glow of the lanterns flew

From streets below, to the heavens above

With the planets dancing, as planets do

Once again, with the sky, he’d found his love

Gazing into the night, allowed him to dream

The possibilities were endless, he was sure

As long as the gods, were pleased with these gifts

Something, he always hoped, he had procured
