Martin Luther King Jr., the man, who had a dream

Imagined that life could be beautiful, this is true

So, why is it, we cannot get along with one another?

Why is it our words are, so often, misconstrued?

“I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal.” ~ Martin Luther King Jr.

fear-615989_960_720
She froze, like frost on blades of grass, in morning

No need to venture farther, she’d heed this final warning

Footsteps, in the distance, she was not there alone

Was that a floorboard creaking, or a wandering spirit’s moan?

Stretching out, listening, hoping she could hear

Shrinking back against the wall, all she felt was fear

Thumping getting louder, twas the pounding of her heart

Knowing she’d no time to waste, this demon she’d outsmart

Bathed in sweat, shivering, her clothes now soaked, it seemed

Waking up, inside her head, afraid of her own dream

Hidden beneath the waterfalls, pooling softly into streams; the tiniest little creatures, from deep below, it seems. They ride upon the ripples, waves that have no crest; gathering around the moss, tis where they make their nest. Basking in the light of day, blending with the green; guarding precious babies, they remain a sight unseen. There is no way to find them, only nature shows its face; the land is full of sweet delight, yet, cloaked in ethereal grace. A peacefulness has grown here, each shrub and tree provides; and the rocks are simply as they are, a path to the other side. Carefully step across them, lest you ruffle this sacred stream; do not splash too garishly, or you’ll disrupt my Earthly dream.

The Dream of All Dreams – #NovemberWriting #poetry

In the midnight sky,
On a bridge that goes nowhere
A light cast its singular glow
And I followed its radiant glare
There, at the end of the platform
A tunnel did appear
In a heart shaped pattern
Against the darkness, ever clear
No matter how hard I tried
I couldn’t see beyond
I called out, into the blue abyss
But no one did respond
As I got closer to the end
Of the narrow wooden planks
I realized what was calling me
Was simply just a prank
Into the ebony sky, I fell
Nobody heard my screams
I am forever lost, inside
This horrid dream of dreams

I long to be the rocks, bathing in the crystal sea; far away from the land I know, tis where I want to be. Graced with azure painted skies, and just a hint of pink; I sit upon the water’s edge, and allow myself to think. Dream about the endless hours, I could spend about this place; where time here really does stand still, and I can take up space. Without the endless drudgery of the crazy day to day; when my mind can find the clarity, yet still be allowed to stray. Eternity lies far beyond, the horizon meets it there; one day I’ll find that sacred bliss, and just breathe, in its air.
