Through the portals of time

The universe expands

Darkness dissipates

With light’s open hands

*

Fire below us, scorches the earth

Heavenly auras, the soul of rebirth

*

Fear not the door

That takes you this way

Enter with faith

In this cosmic array

*

Feel the energy, the pulse of the sun

You and the universe, together, as one

The hum of the distant mower gave her a thought. Rose, fed up with her neighbor, had to put an end to it Every Saturday night, Kelvin mowed his lawn. In the dark! She couldn’t enjoy her patio, nor fire pit, with that constant drone in the background.

That’s when she had a brilliant idea. As quietly as possible, rolling her own mower next door, she waited. Soon, he started, as did Rose, crossing paths. Kelvin demanded to know what she was doing.

“When in Rome, neighbor” she smirked.

All’s quiet now, except for the sound of a crackling fire.

Author’s note:  This is based loosely on true facts.  The names have been changed to protect the guilty.  😉

They dance, under the cover of night,

Disguised as snowflakes, tinged with light,

Filling the darkness, glistening bright,

Behold in the distance, a beautiful sight

Flittering about, whispers unheard,

Each to the other, without saying a word,

Not even a rustle, nor song, from a bird,

Yet, something inside you, is easily stirred.

Watch them carefully, for soon they’ll go,

This vision, you thought, was only snow,

No trace will they leave, but, this you’ll know,

Real, are the fairies, and the magic they bestow.

Her flight was canceled.  Again. This would make the fifth time in as many hours. Determined to remain cool, she set her sights on the departure boards. Maybe she could get another flight out of this God forsaken town. At this point she didn’t care where she went, only that they wouldn’t be able to find her.

She witnessed a scuffle near the ticket counter, policemen were questioning the clerk, who seemed rattled. They knew. Without hesitation, she grabbed her carry-on, leaving the other bags behind.

Calmly walking out the doors, and signaling the closest cabby, she made her escape.

Life in the shadows, child of night,

Ventures forth, as curiosity calls.

Stopping in her tracks, mesmerized

As the sun on her face, does fall

Frocked in tulle, a ballerina babe

Enchanted by the forest, she waits.

Flickers of light, against the trees,

Eyes become wider, pupils dilate.

She hesitates, afraid to go further,

Yet, something draws her into it,

A recollection of happier ways

In dreams, one must simply pursue it.

Come, child, it said,

Follow the rays.

Let the light guide you,

Through the darker days.”
