The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Oh my, Petunia, this is just what we need

Do you think anyone will notice, if we go?

Her cat looked out, in a most curious way

Not quite sure what happened to the snow

Through the door of her dreams, lay a beach

Blue skies, white clouds, and palm trees sway

Not like back home, with the dark and drear

Where the days were nothing more than gray

The sun brightened, as they stood there in awe

Warmth filled this place, not covered in white

Surely, they wouldn’t miss them, for a short while

The one’s left back home, on that cold winter night

As the boat drew nearer to the arch

She could see what the others meant

This was not just any ordinary bridge

Certainly not one she should circumvent

Rather one, whose reflection, did cast

A full circle, ever still, in the water’s flow

And on the other side, could be seen

The gentle breezes, of winds that blow

Serenity lived, beyond the stone expanse

She was anxious, now, to make it through

Knowing she’d never get a second chance

She crossed over, disappearing from view

If we magnify the beauty, found in our fellow man

We will experience life, from a much different angle

Of course, not everything will be as we wish it to be

But, tis nobler to concede this, than it is to wrangle

Colleen’s challenge for us this week are the words Cold and Storm.  Remember, you can only use synonyms to write your poetry!

Written as a Nonet, my synonyms are Raw and Disturbance.

Such disturbance, I have never felt
Penetrating, my inner thoughts
Festering, this wound, bleeding
Revealing, my self-doubt
Seizing, the moment
Until at last
Defeated
I am
Raw

What is it, with you humans, and dressing up your pets?
Can’t you see how silly, this whole thing really gets?

At first, it’s just a bandana, then another thing or two
Enough already, seriously, I’m starting to look like you!

It doesn’t matter how much, I protest this ludicrous clothing
I finally figured it out, aha! I’m wearing what you’re loathing!

You decided, you don’t like it, so it means I probably will
Guess again, come on, for real? I’m not looking very chill

Okay, I’ll admit I’m intrigued, I really like the glasses
But next time, please, if you will, put them on the asses
