The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Oh my, Petunia, this is just what we need

Do you think anyone will notice, if we go?

Her cat looked out, in a most curious way

Not quite sure what happened to the snow

Through the door of her dreams, lay a beach

Blue skies, white clouds, and palm trees sway

Not like back home, with the dark and drear

Where the days were nothing more than gray

The sun brightened, as they stood there in awe

Warmth filled this place, not covered in white

Surely, they wouldn’t miss them, for a short while

The one’s left back home, on that cold winter night

For those who may have missed this glorious lunar event, this is the full eclipse, the moon turned red.  This is how it showed up on my camera, almost multicolored, even Mars like.  I was so lucky to see this!  It was spectacular!!!

Originally shared three years ago, I thought this poem fit Michael’s prompt “Orbit”, perfectly.

This rock is now my home, a place
I travel on, through outer space

A flight to galaxies, still unknown
Adventures, by myself, alone

Standing in the open air
I see Jupiter, floating there

Watching me, a leery eye
As I go quietly, drifting by

In awe of all the mysteries
On this planet, I can see

Ribbons of waves across, a band
Could I ever walk this land?

Shall I journey far across?
And glide, just like an albatross

In an atmosphere, unconfined
Perhaps, a chance to just unwind

Or should I stay here, bide my time
In this universe, quiet, sublime

A Place in the Dark ~ #poetry #Afterwards

Show me a place, secluded, away

Somewhere, no one else can find me

A place where shadows come to play

And break the ties that now bind me

Dear night, fall fast, in winter months

Tis when I can be myself, and breathe

In the cold, where sighs can be seen

Crystals form, on my skin, unsheathed

And as they cling to me, oh, how I try

To escape the light, however stark

But I cannot face the glare, so blinding

Please, let me find, a place, in the dark

Snowcapped mountains, a place to roam

For a family of the wolves, tis their home

Frosted breath echoes, with every howl

Voices in the night, they’re on the prowl

The crisp frigid air, does charm their senses

Each one watches, with heightened defenses

Ready to strike, when the moment is right

Take heed to the call, of the wolf, in the night
