Glistening across the lake

Like a million fireflies

A sparkle like no other

From the sun which passes by

Shimmering in the twilight

I stood and watched it dance

The last of the glorious sunshine

In the water, such romance

Just look at how it twinkles

Like stars that light the night

Imagine that you’re one of them

Effervescent, pure and bright

It was risky but there was this overwhelming desire to just do it. What if something went wrong? She was being silly. Nothing could go wrong. She made her way through the path, toward the ivy covered towers, and through to the castle doors. Pushing hard against them, she entered the chamber, cautiously looking about, hoping to find nothing or no one that would put a stop to her quest. As she turned again, there he stood. Her heart stopped, as a sinister sneer crept across his face. She encountered the one thing she never gave a second thought. Death.

She hides behind the fence posts

Where no one sees her there

Cloaked by wooden slats and nails

She stays hidden from the glare

Of hatred thrown about her

Lives taken, for mere display

She no longer wants to live

In a land that prays this way

Someday she’ll find the courage

To walk away from all this hate

But for now, she stays behind the fence

For now, she has to wait

We have but one

To call our own

No others allow

Our Earthly form

A heavenly body

Of living things

Floating

Around a brilliant star

We circle

As each days passes

For twenty four hours

We move

An endless orbit

Night into day

And day returns

Once again

Until our final hours

Our planet remains

A place we call home
