She is a child of purest nature

A beauty, bestowed to the Earth

Among fragrant, multicolored flowers

Green grass, and butterflies adrift in the air

They dance for her, a ballet of splendor

Fluttering wings, their acknowledgement

They have captured and beguiled

Her applause, a request for an encore

And she smiles, with sheer delight

Out-dazzling the morning’s sun

One last song, I begged of him

As he looked upon me, face so grim

The time has come, I can no longer play

Blackened notes, on sheets of gray

The lines now blurred upon the page

I take my leave of this earthly stage

Though my hands shall leave these ivory keys

My melody continues, in sweet rhapsody

Embryonic thoughts, plague the best of me

Incipient beginnings, not where I wish to be

Maturity has abandoned me, in very many ways

Passing by the hours, watch them turning into days

Hoping new beginnings, will appear with early dawn

I sit and wait, and realize, I’m really just a pawn

Of merely growing older, in a world, that likes me not

Maybe I finally did grow up, perhaps I just forgot

Mother Nature forgot all about it

It was time for spring to arrive

That winter had passed already

The flowers were waiting to thrive

But the temperatures didn’t budge

Making the trees remain quite rigid

Seems winter wanted to stay a bit more

Leaving the rest of us rather frigid

But buds are beginning to appear

So we hope, and dream, the cold is gone

Until the weatherman calls for snow again

And we realize, winter hasn’t moved on

He was betrayed

By those he loved

Left alone, to fend

Against the human

Demons who sought

After him, betrayed

By ones he thought

He could lay his trust

Isn’t it funny though

How we still carry on

This way, afraid to do

What’s right, until

It all goes wrong

And then we beg

His forgiveness…
