Oh, the special moments, when those we love are near!

Ringing in the holidays, and spreading love and cheer

It’s magic in the making, under twinkling strands of lights

The gift of family, gathered close, makes everything so right!

Oh my, what’s that smell? What could it be?

Something was putrescent, under the tree!

And there on the floor, with a pretty red bow

Was Granny’s fruitcake, from years long ago

She is a child of purest nature

A beauty, bestowed to the Earth

Among fragrant, multicolored flowers

Green grass, and butterflies adrift in the air

They dance for her, a ballet of splendor

Fluttering wings, their acknowledgement

They have captured and beguiled

Her applause, a request for an encore

And she smiles, with sheer delight

Out-dazzling the morning’s sun

Sunrise paints the morning sky

Exposing colors, soft in hue

Lifts the mists, that wander by

Exposing waters, ever blue

Orange wisps, to light the day

In the valley, where life is grand

As darkness sails on by, gives way

To the heavens, floating, above the land

This is the time when the world renews

Tis a gift from God, this day, anew

He: What do you want for Christmas?

Me: Nothing. I have everything I need.

He: Are you sure?

Me: Yes. We spent the day together, shopping,
dining, and just enjoying. I can’t think of a
better gift than that.

He: I agree. We must do it again. Soon

This is a true story.  My husband & I opted to not exchange gifts this year, rather spend more time together just enjoying life.  It was truly a beautiful day, with many more to come.   🙂
