It is in the quiet hush of the rain,
when water falls in a cascade of tears,
that we no longer feel the need to cry,
for the clouds have done it for us.

Reflections hidden in the pane
Through the looking glass again
Wondering what it is I see
Raindrops, blurring reality
Lost inside this weary head
Words unspoken, left unsaid
Sleepless nights, I dream of you
Thoughts I never can undo
Sighing in the cold, dark night
Thunderous silence, scattered light
Beckons me to watch and stare
Could it be you I see out there?
Or is it just the storm that plays
With memories of yesterdays

The storm raged
thunderous explosions
like the Fourth of July
without its colors
rattled windows
dislocated, limbs fell
against the glass
or did they knock
asking me, to let them in
shelter from the battle
I don’t know, shades drawn
lights out, I could not see
seated in the darkness
only my shadow reflected
on the wall, as lightning
danced across the skies
illuminated, then black again
ice pellets, echoed,
the noise, like machine guns,
ravaging the night, a hunter
claimed his prey
then unexpected silence
the only sound heard
was the peaceful rain,
gently falling.
a truce…………

Blowing circles all around
Oblivious to the echoing din
And all that it surrounds
Releasing loud, its mighty roar
Cloudbursts drown the quiet
Of song birds singing merrily
Refusing to be silent
Watching as the storm clouds fade
Returning skies to bright
Giving way to rainbows
Shining through the light
Sunshine dries the fallen rain
And skies are colored blue, again
