Why is it I don’t recognize, the face reflected back at me?

What is it about her look, I no longer wish to see?

Sunken, hollowed cheeks, color pale, in shades of white

Turn away, bow my head, I can’t take my ghostly sight

Missing is the sparkle, once, so prominent in these eyes

Replaced by tears of sadness, rushing, falling, from my eyes

No strength to fight the demon, it’s taking all I’ve got

Too weak to go on trying, yet too stubborn, to accept this lot

Determined for a comeback, keep my focus on the prize

Restore myself, back to life, there is no compromise.

Authors note:  I am still unwell, trying to find the end of this madness.  Four weeks and counting.  I know what it isn’t, but not what it is.  I see a specialist on Wednesday.  I pray I finally find out what demon decided my body was its new home so I can evict it immediately!  I miss you all and hope you are well.  ❤

I know not where it is, I should turn

As thoughts inside, begin to churn

An acid, meant to truly burn

A helpless moment, of which I yearn

*

To cast away, the thoughtless words

From a hateful voice, it’s so absurd

To know that I’m not really heard

My patience, buried, now interred

*

Into hopelessness, I need to fight

To end this horrid, dreadful plight

That I endure, both day and night

For where there seems, no end in sight

Wasted
The hours in a day
Doing nothing
Wallowing
In empty air
And blank spaces
The mind
Reeling
In no specific direction
Slamming
Into a brick wall
But no damage
Except to the soul
Damaged
Torn apart
Ripped
From its very essence
Mangled, as if
It had been ravaged
By a predator
But that predator
Only lives within me
The walls
I have built myself
Keep me
Safely guarded, away
From the vicious
And yet
I want to explode
To let it out
Still
No one will hear
No one will care
No one
Even notices
How lost
Inside myself
I am
No one

Why? ~ #poetry of sadness

In loving memory of Michael Knight…

How can it look the same, this world that seems to drone?

Why does my heart not explain, why is it I feel, so alone?

One minute you’re there, and the next, you are gone

Life is now harder to bear, how will we… I, go on?

They say you’re in a better place, I am filled with unrest

My heart now has an empty space, heavy, inside my chest

We will meet again, my son, when the world has let me go

Until that time, I remain here, saddened, and missing you so

I wrote this after reading of the death of a child. Our dear blog friend, Derrick Knight, lost his eldest son, Michael. It was sudden, unexpected. May Michael rest in peace and may God watch over Derrick, Jackie and the family.

In the Midst of Sadness and Despair – #poetry #FebruaryWriting

A dark, clouded sky, no end in sight

Turned the morn, into an ebon night

Piles of sand, lay wasted on the beach

The ocean’s tide, was too far to reach

If it was there, I could no longer tell

As again, the clouds, began to swell

I watched, as emptiness, the cause

Brought attention, what’s this? (I paused)

There in the middle of nothingness

Amidst this plain, in mere ruggedness

Stood a flower, so dainty and eloquent

I could smell its fragrance, so redolent

I knew all hope had not been taken

And I, for one, had not been forsaken

Through the hours, and total madness

I truly hadn’t felt despair, nor sadness

Those petals, my reminder, to persevere

The darkness will always, eventually, clear
