In order to accomplish, what we value most

We must take pride in ourselves, to the letter

Tis then we are able, to walk about and boast

Now tell me, is there a feeling any better?

Prepared for the ultimate battle
She made her presence known
A tigress she, on mountain high
Wanted next, to rule the throne

Standing above the land below
She need only stare to frighten
They, who bowed down to her
Who deemed herself, a titan

Til they, who called her majesty
Found her secret, but didn’t tell
That there was nothing noble here
And soon, the warning, a final knell

Where once, no one could get close
They surrounded this deceitful knave
And the crown, placed, upon her head
Would soon be taken, to her grave

Betrayed, by the one they worshiped
They quickly slayed her, on the spot
She, who had prepared for this battle
Forgot the one, in which she was not

When things in life get you down, often make you feel forlorn

And big decisions weigh on you, and you feel old, and worn

There is nothing more remorseful, than letting life go astray

Leave the past behind you, you’re much better off that way!

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  You may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you.  More info can be found in the link below.

Hidden deep, underneath, the crystal chandelier

A place so full of wonder, some say you’ll disappear

Into other’s imaginations, and places of unknown

Perhaps you’ll even find yourself, sat upon a throne

Oh, the many places, a book or two, will take you

Inside, secrets held, which perchance, could wake you

Watch the crystal ball, as it spins its magical spell

What happens next, friends, you simply cannot quell

Mystery and power, oh! And dragons, dance in rhyme

Guaranteed, I have no doubt, you’ll have a marvelous time!

So, step inside my parlor, grab a seat there, on the floor

And I’ll tell you about the library, a place you will adore

Still Waiting – #poeticprose – #JanuaryWriting

The boat was empty, not a soul in sight, he perched high on the branch, as sun set to night; watching and waiting, always calculated his timing, he was ready for his dinner, so he started his priming. When out of nowhere, came the rush of wings; nothing ever good, came out of these things. Sighing, he knew, he had heard it before; the eagle had found, his hidden place, once more. Now honing in on the fish he espied, the hawk simply sat there, watching, wide eyed; he knew better than to challenge this bird, trying to do so would be quite absurd. Instead he lamented, on what he should do next; there was still one more fish, but to get it, complex. So he waited again, til the eagle had gone; hoping this time, he had truly moved on. Again, there it was, that sound ever roaring; he was back for the other, that darn eagle, came soaring! Off went the second fish, into claws, twas transferred; all the hawk could do now, was go hungry, dumb bird…

The moral of the story: He who hesitates, often misses dinner.
