Be careful how you touch them

How they look is quite deceiving

Nature has the strangest ways

To leave your senses grieving

That something, oh so beautiful

Can hurt you, with a single stroke

Stay away from the stinging nettles

For it’s pain, they shall evoke

Sunlight stains the window
I pour myself some tea
Tears flow from my swollen eyes
What has become of me?

I find myself inside this place
No reason to go outside
Afraid someone will see my pain
And I’ll have to run and hide

Away from the morning monsters
And the afternoon creatures I fear
Nighttime comes calling too quickly
And I find myself rather drear

Behind the glass panes, I surrender
To the despair I keep hidden so well
Although I have tried to escape me
I’m still locked in this living hell

She found it harder each day, to face the pain

Alone by the window, wondering again

How time could steel her life away

And why the agony she felt each day

Could cause so much hatred, in one woman’s heart

A prolonged destruction, which kept her apart

From the world outside, the place she’d known best

Now no longer a haven, or place she could rest

Instead she sits curled up, dark against light

Hair in her face, obscuring her sight

She no longer wishes to dwell here alone

Unlocking the window, she sends herself home

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention  (CDC), in 2015:

  • Suicide was the tenth leading cause of death overall in the United States, claiming the lives of more than 44,000 people.
  • Suicide was the third leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 10 and 14, and the second leading cause of death among individuals between the ages of 15 and 34.
  • There were more than twice as many suicides (44,193) in the United States as there were homicides (17,793).

If you know someone who is struggling with life, reach out, show them you care.  You could be saving their life.

The skies open up, above me

Their sorrows, releasing the pain

A cloudburst, quite uncontrollably

Soon mingles, with the pouring rain

Misgivings ~ #poetry

Life seems quite empty now
The pages glued together
Unable to turn to chapter two
I’m lost in the land of never

Not like Peter, no, not he
This place was something more
A hollowed piece of a broken heart
Swept away, like the ocean shore

You took the shattered parts
And flung them to the side
Tossed away my feelings
Cared nothing for my pride

I tried so hard to forget you
No matter how deep the pain
Finding myself beside the window
I cry alone, again, with the rain

Your flowers, laid so carefully
On the rocks so far below
Your way of saying goodbye to me
Funny, I was the last to know

I’ve lost the will to carry on
But they say, I must go on living
And finally come to grips, the facts
This simply was my misgiving
