When you try to omit life’s important lessons

It’s quite like knocking over that hot cup of tea

You may get burned, but truly, it’s a blessing

A reminder of where, you really need to be

In a quaint little coffee shop, across the street

The town folk get together, to have a little treat

Every morning, like clockwork, they arrive at eight

To get their favorites, from a gal, they call her Kate

Now, let me tell you a bit, about this dear ole lady

Some folks say her coffee’s, tasting kind of shady

They claim it has a hint of peach, just a bit fruity

But Kate says no, it can’t be, blaming it on Judy!

The folks suspect, they’re in cahoots, those two

Even the tea was off, smelled like hazelnuts, eew!

Seems the lovely ladies, had been having some fun

Switching up the drinks, before the day was done

They began to laugh, thinking they had pulled a gem

Until the folks, tossed the drinks, right back at them

Hello everyone!

I’m excited to tell you about a new group I’ve started on Facebook called “Let’s Talk Poetry and More!”

This group is all about who your favorite poets and passages are. I hope you’ll consider joining me, as we learn more about the poets of our time, and the ones that have long since past. This is not a group for self-promotion. I will be opening up the group twice a month for that, so be sure to look for those posts.

My goal is to be able to help you discover other poets you may not be familiar with, and learn together. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, or even answer questions asked by others.

I will not add you to the group. You need to click the JOIN button. We all have many groups we are involved in and it’s only right to respect your privacy.

I hope you decide this is a nice place to settle. Tea, coffee and cookies are always waiting. 🙂

Sunlight stains the window
I pour myself some tea
Tears flow from my swollen eyes
What has become of me?

I find myself inside this place
No reason to go outside
Afraid someone will see my pain
And I’ll have to run and hide

Away from the morning monsters
And the afternoon creatures I fear
Nighttime comes calling too quickly
And I find myself rather drear

Behind the glass panes, I surrender
To the despair I keep hidden so well
Although I have tried to escape me
I’m still locked in this living hell
