I’ve traveled here,
to sit, ponder
Basking in the glory
of nature
Feeling the warmth
of the sun
Soaking in the sounds
of water falling

(The rush of silence is awakening)

Freeing me, to find
my inner peace
These things,
I have somehow
Taken for granted,
Thinking they,
would always
be here for me

(Bestowed upon us from Heaven above)

And while the leaves
of the trees, provide
with their shade,
I shall always
turn my face
toward the light

(In thankful prayer for His many blessings)

So many times she would walk by that jar

The one they kept hidden, near the trees

And though they told her never to touch it

She did exactly what wasn’t meant to be

Quickly, gathering the jar, in her hands

She ran off, beyond her home and her kin

Sitting down, for just for a mere moment

Mesmerized by the light, emanating within

Curiosity, got the better of her, poor girl

Needing to know, if the fire would grow

Opening the lid, without warning, it flew

Escaping in the forest, as fast as it could go

A look of surprise came across her face

When she realized what she had done

The light of day, suddenly began to glow

From a jar, in the forest, of the rising sun

#TBT – Swept Away in Golden Splendor – #poetry

Spun in golden, silken threads, with wings upon her back

She beckons to the one who’s lost, to keep him on her track

Seductive eyes and lips of red, he falls for her completely

As she lures him to her trap, ever so discretely

Into the forest, and fairy light, he follows her hypnotic gaze

Unaware of what’s ahead, his mind, confused, a clouded haze

She turns again, just to be sure, he hasn’t lost his way

Once again she coyly smiles, as he gets swept away

In golden splendor, through the trees, no innocence remains

For she has taken all he has, his spoils are now her gains

Originally shared three years ago, I thought this poem fit Michael’s prompt “Orbit”, perfectly.

This rock is now my home, a place
I travel on, through outer space

A flight to galaxies, still unknown
Adventures, by myself, alone

Standing in the open air
I see Jupiter, floating there

Watching me, a leery eye
As I go quietly, drifting by

In awe of all the mysteries
On this planet, I can see

Ribbons of waves across, a band
Could I ever walk this land?

Shall I journey far across?
And glide, just like an albatross

In an atmosphere, unconfined
Perhaps, a chance to just unwind

Or should I stay here, bide my time
In this universe, quiet, sublime

A Place in the Dark ~ #poetry #Afterwards

Show me a place, secluded, away

Somewhere, no one else can find me

A place where shadows come to play

And break the ties that now bind me

Dear night, fall fast, in winter months

Tis when I can be myself, and breathe

In the cold, where sighs can be seen

Crystals form, on my skin, unsheathed

And as they cling to me, oh, how I try

To escape the light, however stark

But I cannot face the glare, so blinding

Please, let me find, a place, in the dark
