This is how
The year has been
Cluttered spaces,
Filled with din

Unconnected,
Lines that fly
Out of my head,
Although I try

To make sense
Of what will be
To understand
This broken me

Who misses you
With every day
It’s been a year ago,
Today

How can that be,
It went so fast
Day after day,
The moments pass

I feel I’m sinking,
In quicksand
And you’re not here
To grab my hand

And pull me up,
Breathe in new life
Instead, I’m only
Filled with strife

Beaten down,
Depression rages
Part of death,
of grief,
in stages…

Rest in Peace, Mommy.  I miss you so very much… 06/10/2020

The pen is dry,
The ink, disappeared
The last line on the page
So imperfectly smeared

Clumsy fingers,
Gnarled and bent
No longer hold words
Forgotten lament

Countless hours wasted
All, for a couple of thoughts
Illegible, at best
Oh, but it was for naught

She poured her heart out
Every broken, shattered piece
The pain and anguish
Gave this child no release

Another place, perhaps
She may have found her way
But not in this realm of torture
She’d have to wait another day

Pouting Petals – #poetry – #AprilWriting – #NaPoWriMo

When raindrops fall,
On petals soft,
The flowers pout,
As they do, oft

From the weight
Of fallen tears
Until the sorrow
Disappears

Then nourishes,
All who grieve,
A silent means
To give reprieve

Tis then the sun,
Again, does shine,
To dry the tears,
Of those, who pine

Hard to believe #NaPoWriMo is over, although truth be told, it felt like an eternity.  Congrats to all who participated this year.  Here’s to 2021!! ❤

Keeping Secrets – #poetry – #JanuaryWriting

Best to keep secrets, out of sight, under disguise

Sweep them far away from you, hide those nasty lies

In the belly of the broomstick, just let the dust collect

No one will find the answer, no one will ever suspect

Tidy up your space, so nobody dares to cause you grief

On to other chores, they’ve moved, what a sense of relief!

Until someone comes along, to sweep the dusty rug

And finds what’s hidden there, and all you do is shrug

Knowing that your precious secrets, were never truly kept

Underneath the carpet, where all your dirt was swept

January Writing Prompt – The answer rested quietly inside the belly of the broomstick – Day 13/31

Hello friends,

This past weekend, I had to say goodbye to a very dear friend.  He was an incredible man, much like a brother to my husband, and treated our family with so much love and respect.  I am having difficulty dealing with his death, and as such, I have not been writing, nor visiting WP as often as usual.  Please bear with me, as I work my way through these emotions.  Thank you  ❤

Dorinda
