The pen is dry,
The ink, disappeared
The last line on the page
So imperfectly smeared

Clumsy fingers,
Gnarled and bent
No longer hold words
Forgotten lament

Countless hours wasted
All, for a couple of thoughts
Illegible, at best
Oh, but it was for naught

She poured her heart out
Every broken, shattered piece
The pain and anguish
Gave this child no release

Another place, perhaps
She may have found her way
But not in this realm of torture
She’d have to wait another day

Shards of crystal prisms fly
Broken pieces, its time to die
Left, an empty shell, I cry

Impossible to put back together

Trying to do too many things
Mind elsewhere, disaster brings
Oh, how I wish that I had wings

To escape this stormy weather

Funny, how life keeps its pace
As tears still stain this aging face
I pray to God for saving grace

Please, free me from this tether

Let me float among the clouds
Spread my wings, and cry aloud
My voice, be heard, no longer shroud

My heart, soars, light as a feather

For He does take my feeble hand
Grasps it tightly, a feeling, grand
“Know now, this is what I’ve planned
Fear not, child, the days will get better.”

The lovely Helene of Willow Poetry has challenged us with “What do you See?”.  On your own blog, you may write a poem, haiku, tanka or short story that represents what you see or feel within you, then create a pingback to the original post..  More info can be found in the link below.

Spirit

Remains faceless

In a world so Godless

Praying for man’s absolution

Shattered

Pushed upon, punched, beaten

Holes leave marks upon my soul

I keep standing, though weakened

But never again am I whole

Lean upon me, ever so gently

I can hold you up, I’m strong

I try so hard, but consequently

You always find me wrong

Inside this house, the walls

Keep secrets from the rest

Broken apart, the pieces fall

Tales never spoken, never confessed

Author’s Note: On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. During one year, this equates to more than 10 million women and men. (https://ncadv.org/statistics)
