The clouds, though darkening,

Gray, hold back their tears, silently

Moving, across the skies, waiting

For the right moment, the one they

Hope never comes, the one when

The deluge of angst and fear, takes

Over common sense, drowning it

It is then, and only then, they sigh

And release, the pouring of the rain

Through ruins, I try to make my escape

Unable to see, yet I sense my mistake

Moving about, with no reason nor rhyme

Knowing, so well, I’m near out of time

Can’t remove this mask, there’s no point in asking

Dare to take one more step, I feel my life crashing

Trying to run, from what I fear most

I find myself, floating, as now I am a ghost

“It’ll be easy, you’re such a natural!”

Then why was it I stood, in front of a crowd of people I had known for so long and I froze. Yep, frozen solid. No eye contact, not even a blink. I was locked in total paranoia, not able to unbolt the latch that held me rigid on the stage. I felt numb, like my body had been taken over by a tub full of gelatin, only I wasn’t jiggling. I was a mere block of ice. Trying to control the fear, I slowly began to breathe, feeling myself thawing, breaking through the facade, and finally, speaking. But when I looked up, the room was nothing but a vapor. Apparently, while inhaling and exhaling, I had blown the cold out of my body, into a heated room and created a steam bath….I would never speak again.

Crescent moon, in the still of night

Quietly gazing, I sense your fright

You’re wondering, will I stop the storm

Or will clouds around you, start to swarm

And hide the light, that lets you shine

The light that comes from one, divine

And should I suddenly fade away

Can you go back to yesterday?

Or will you live in fear of dark?

When at last the Earth, is cold and stark

Crescent moon, my guiding star

I think I’ll keep you, as you are

She froze, like frost on blades of grass in morning

No need to venture farther, she’d heed this final warning

Footsteps in the distance, she was not there alone

Was that a floorboard creaking, or a wandering spirit’s moan?

Stretching out, listening, hoping she could hear

Shrinking back against the wall, all she felt was fear

Heartbeats getting louder, twas the pounding of her heart

Knowing she’d no time to waste, this demon she’d outsmart

Bathed in sweat, and shivering, her clothes now soaked, it seemed

Waking up, inside her head, afraid of her own dream
