For Gail Marie

Open the window, ah, the scent of rain

That floats on the wave of a breeze

Watch, as it gently falls to the ground

Nourishing the flowers and trees

Allow it to enter your spirit, breathe

Let it lift you up, with each new drop

Listen carefully, as it sings its song

While nature dances, on Earth’s rooftop

Scared for Good ~ #poetry #dark

In a darkened place, beside a tree
A rusted, old, antiquated jalopy
Sat with no driver, appeared empty
Not really sure how this could be

The headlights were on, beaming
Light through the fog, streaming
In the distance, someone screaming
Please wake me up, I must be dreaming!

This nightmare has gone too far
I can’t get away, from this wicked car
I’m not even sure where we are!
This whole thing is quite bizarre

Wait. What do I mean saying we?
All this time, I thought, it’s only me
I’m not really sure what it is I see
But this forest has become too creepy

Half asleep, I try to make my way back
Through the foggiest mist, in the black
Of night, where the spirits always attack
And I find myself, way off track

Fumbling around, looking for light
Not another soul, within my sight
Thank goodness, that would be a fright
If someone else, came out, in the night

Running blindly, through the wood
Flashbacks of evil, a lost childhood
I’d awaken myself, if I could
Nightmares keep you, scared, for good

Like the clouds, overcast, against the night

Eclipsing the colors, of twilight sky

Seeking to cover, the never ending light

Which vows to remain, from the heavens, high

A swirling eddy, obscures, bringing in the dark

Yet, the brightness will never be finished

There will, forever, remain this spark

That lights the darkness, never diminished

Self-Doubt vs Self-Confidence – I could use some help

It is after midnight, and as I sit here, mulling my progress in life, it hits me. I am exactly where I need to be right now. I never really saw myself as a writer. I always dabbled in everything else, but my writing, although many times I sneaked a write in my journal, was never taken seriously. My father-in-law, a published author, and English professor (may he rest in peace), once told me, after reading a story I had written, that I should be published. I laughed, secretly thinking he was nuts. Secretly, I was petrified!

Self-confidence, I’m not sure I know what that is. Oh, I know many people who have it. I am not one of them. Could this be why my WIP is sitting, waiting, growing old? Or is it me who is growing old? Maybe it’s both. This probably makes no sense to all of you who have put your works out there, to be read by hundreds, probably thousands. I don’t know about you, but every time I click publish, my stomach drops. Questions pop on a consistent basis. Will they like it? Will they hate it? Should I rewrite it? I really like this one, they’ll probably hate it. You get my drift.

So, the question remains, where do I find the self-confidence I need to complete the projects I set in front of me? I’d appreciate any and all feedback from anyone willing to lend some advice. Do you feel the way I do? Or am I just making myself crazy even thinking this way?
