I’m afraid, to close my eyes
Though sleep takes over me
It’s when the dead awaken
And I’m no longer free to be

They’re coming at me, running
Demons find the easiest way
To be spiteful, in their glory
And these thoughts, I can’t allay

They beckon to my very soul
To follow where they roam
And I fall helpless to their plea
A ghastly place, this catacomb

Try though I might, to wrestle away
They keep me close, so I can’t breathe
Red eyes, thumping evil hearts
Shooting fire, as they seethe

Inescapable, in their clutches
I try my best, these thoughts, to quell
Yet I cannot overcome the darkness
I’ve lost the battle, in this living hell

Scared for Good ~ #poetry #dark

In a darkened place, beside a tree
A rusted, old, antiquated jalopy
Sat with no driver, appeared empty
Not really sure how this could be

The headlights were on, beaming
Light through the fog, streaming
In the distance, someone screaming
Please wake me up, I must be dreaming!

This nightmare has gone too far
I can’t get away, from this wicked car
I’m not even sure where we are!
This whole thing is quite bizarre

Wait. What do I mean saying we?
All this time, I thought, it’s only me
I’m not really sure what it is I see
But this forest has become too creepy

Half asleep, I try to make my way back
Through the foggiest mist, in the black
Of night, where the spirits always attack
And I find myself, way off track

Fumbling around, looking for light
Not another soul, within my sight
Thank goodness, that would be a fright
If someone else, came out, in the night

Running blindly, through the wood
Flashbacks of evil, a lost childhood
I’d awaken myself, if I could
Nightmares keep you, scared, for good

Like the clouds, overcast, against the night

Eclipsing the colors, of twilight sky

Seeking to cover, the never ending light

Which vows to remain, from the heavens, high

A swirling eddy, obscures, bringing in the dark

Yet, the brightness will never be finished

There will, forever, remain this spark

That lights the darkness, never diminished

Blackened eyes that bare the night
She hides, in the alley way
A mission, she must carry out
One they talked about today

Dressed for shadows, against the light
She could stay, without being seen
Many were gathering, in the square
She would wait, for them, to convene

Quietly, on the rain soaked street
She could hear them, so many voices
The demon within her, now unleashed
And her darkened soul, easily rejoices

One by one, she silenced them
Until the blood ran from her lips
Her deed was carried out, quite well
All before the moon’s final eclipse

Black in light
No color in sight
Sunlight turns to gray

Darkness bites
The spectrum fights
Say goodbye to another day

Sky of night
No longer bright
Its lantern gone astray

Til ebon takes flight
And morn wakes with delight
Casting the darkness away
