I like to hide myself, like the moon, camouflaged

Keeping the dark side, cloaked, from other’s sight

You think you’re seeing all of me, but I’m really a mirage

Disappearing, silently, into the darkness, of the night

I can almost reach it

The place my heart wanders

Where my soul endlessly flies

In and out of the darkness

Happier to hide in the craters

And follow the shadows, then

Watch the sun creep up, as it

Illuminates that famous face

While I, content to remain here

On the dark side, where no one

Can see me, as I dodge the light

Allows me to become a shadow

Blending in with your surface

Feeding off your moon beams

Reflecting, with the stars, gathering

Dreams, listening to my heart and

Realizing, I never wish to go home.

Who dwells upon the dark side
Concealed in the ebony night
Who is he who turns away
When hiding from the light

Of Heaven’s solar star
Casting radiance on his face
Hoping to wake the man in the moon
Asleep in outer space

“There is no dark side in the moon, really. Matter of fact, it’s all dark” – Gerry O’Driscoll

Peaking round in darkened sky

He keeps himself obscured, but why?

Hanging so freely, in the night

Yet only shares his partial light

Enough to let you see him there

Enough to know he’s quite aware

That on his deepest, darkest side

Are secrets kept, those which he hides

Away from the sun, they’re never seen

Sharing only the glow of his golden citrine

Allowing him to linger, in color, so grand

A light in the sky, the heavens high command

gondolier-2018052_960_720
I sail upon this wooden craft

Toward places yet unknown

A gondolier, upon a raft

Into the light that shone

Luminous, it beckons me

Yet the darker side is near

I know not what I really see

My vision not quite clear

What does cast its shadow

On the waters, in my boat

Will it guide me, whilst I row

Or will the moon, and I, just float
