She draws you in, with hands like a vise
Promising days of sweet paradise
Crushing your will, the grip is tight
She’ll hold on, til the time is right
Her power over you, indeed, magnetic
Your earthly demise, no longer poetic

Death becomes, a beauty posed
Once a queen, is now deposed
Cast away, in the forest, deep
Left to linger, in eternal sleep
Ashen faced, she disapproves
Of a body that no longer moves
Dressed in burial clothes, she lies
Refusing to ever close her eyes

Hello friends!
Over the course of this year, I will be sharing a different side of me. I’m hoping it will lead me in new directions, and not smack into a tree. I admit, my life is not all peaches and cream (whose is), and as such, my dark side does emerge from time to time. I’ve decided I’m going to let it loose whenever it feels the need. I hope you’ll indulge me on this endeavor as I spread my wings and soar!
As some of you have already seen, I am also dabbling in short stories. I blame Richard for this. I have to admit, I’m having fun 🙂

She froze, like frost on blades of grass in morning
No need to venture farther, she’d heed this final warning
Footsteps in the distance, she was not there alone
Was that a floorboard creaking, or a wandering spirit’s moan?
Stretching out, listening, hoping she could hear
Shrinking back against the wall, all she felt was fear
Heartbeats getting louder, twas the pounding of her heart
Knowing she’d no time to waste, this demon she’d outsmart
Bathed in sweat, and shivering, her clothes now soaked, it seemed
Waking up, inside her head, afraid of her own dream

Waves appear in rapid show
Swirling, like a tornado, grow
Hands that grip, the fear in me
Are now a part of this old tree
I hold on tight, my fingers dig
This vortex snaps me like a twig
Spinning out of my control
Stuck here, on this magnetic pole
Afraid to lose my grip, and so
I stay here, never letting go
