Myrtle, it seems, was a terrible moaner

Which led to her becoming quite the loner

Miserable, she was, while waiting for him

Ventured out, on a lark, to satisfy a whim

Took a tour of the city, in a big fancy car

Made her name as she danced in every bar

The patrons made sure, to invite her back again

She made them promise, to be gentlemen

Even though they once caused dear Myrtle to frown

She now makes them smile, she’s the toast of the town

Charlie does the moonwalk
While Lester checks the gifts
Bartholomew is wondering
What’s in the box he lifts

Seems Charlie doesn’t care much
About the presents left to wrap
He’d much rather dance around
Donned, in his stocking cap

Bart leans on his buddy
For a moment, does he pause
Where did Lester get the box?
Did he steal from Santa Claus?

It seems a shame to tattle
So he makes a deal with Les
“Give me the box, I’ll be quiet
So you won’t have to confess.”

Lester takes a moment
Then decides to take the chance
Grabs hold of Charlie’s pompom
And follows in the dance

Bart can see he’s defeated
Might as well join in the fun
Best to keep his secret
And now my tale is done

Friday Fantasy ~ They Dance – #poetry

They dance about, without a care

Top hat he dons, ribbons in her hair

Elegantly dressed, they spin and they twirl

She with her man, and he with his girl

He smiles when she giggles, her face so fair

She’s shy when he does, they make quite the pair

Yet, no one can see them, nor hear a sound

Of music that plays, from that place, underground

No matter to them, they don’t care if you do

The owl can hear them, til they bid it adieu

What does howl in blackest night
Headstones, aglow in pale moonlight
Whilst spirits wander, invisible sights
Taunting, in their whirling flight

Those who lie here, they have said
Are really not the ones so dead
For they’ve come from their earthly bed
To wreak the havoc, fill with dread

You, who doesn’t believe so true
Until they claim the breath you drew
Leaving you to wonder who
Took your soul, your heart, no clue

Was left behind in their devilish wake
Underfoot, the ground does quake
As you slip away, you begin to shake
Realizing this was your mistake

That dealt the hand and held your card
You drift away, put down your guard
Now you join them, ravenous, and scarred
Dancing in the old graveyard
