Come take a ride on my broomstick

Meet my precious cat, Mr. Quiver

We’ll turn your head, round and round

Upside down, make your whole body shiver

Throw in some jack-o-lanterns

Light the candles, watch them flame

The goblins? In the graveyard?

They’re writing numbers, taking names

I will tell my tale this Halloween

About the time I caught your eye

And how you fell for my greatest plan

I’m so sorry that you had to die

Your time has come to a dreadful end

On the gravestone, etched in black

Your name and, yes, the date you left

Sad to say, there’s no turning back

She found herself

In this unearthly place

Felt his presence

Chill her face

Watched the mist

Against the ground

Rise, then fall

Without a sound

Could this be illusion?

A trick, not a treat

He’s slowly surrounding

Himself, at her feet

Feeling the tug

She realizes fast

As he pulls her under

With a sinister grasp

Standing, hiding behind his father, she could see his small face staring in bewilderment.

How hideous, she thought, that they should bring a child to my death.

Here she was, about to meet her demise, in a way not even suited for a pig. She glared at the man, as he shielded his son, and mouthed something to him. The woman standing next to him gasped. In an instant, they were gone from the crowd, and the young boy with them. Jocelyne sneered. This was far from over, for even from the depths of her grave, she would return to claim what she decided, on her death day, was rightfully hers. With her final living thought, sealed in her hardened heart, she felt the blade slice through her, again and again, until she felt no more.

For centuries, a small town, hidden deep within the outer forests, provided comfort for the elite of Rousseau, France. They went about their day, unaware of the horrible conditions that plagued the less fortunate. Blind, to the men who tortured the women, made them slaves for their own pleasures, they gleefully went about their business. The slaves bore no self-esteem, for they knew if they spoke out they would surely meet their demise. But there was one, one who dared forsake the unspoken oath, the one who dared to break the silence. Jocelyne Joubert, a strong determined woman, unafraid of the consequences, spoke her mind among the men who had come to the town to claim their next victims. And in the rumble of voices crying for her death, she saw her revenge.
