Elvin magic flies about

Wistful thoughts crying out

Tearing at her soul, exposed

Longing to forget these woes

Of lovers lost

And left behind

Of broken hearts

For which she pined

Nights where bodies

Intertwined

Locked forever

In her mind

Poor Mercedes, the dinner was late

She needed something that tasted great

Had a crazy idea

Kicked it into high gear

Served him fried cotton balls, on a plate

A door unopened, here remains
Through sharpest winds and icy rains

Where it leads, I do not know
Perhaps it’s only here for show

But what is that, a creature there?
Who looks completely unaware

Nary a movement does he make
I don’t think that he’s awake!!

I’ll walk ever quietly, to the door
This one I’ve never been before

Slowly, so he does not rouse
Toward the door, just let him drowse

Pray, the hinges will not creak
When I open the portal to take a peek

This gate was in the middle of nowhere on a nature trail. The little creature is actually the root system from a fallen tree!!

Lackadaisical Lollygagging ~ #JuneWriting #poetry

Charlie was lazy, as lazy can be
Loved to dawdle about the town
But Harley would have no part of it
She always thought Charlie a clown

Still, he didn’t care what Harley thought
He enjoyed doing nothing all day
Lollygagging, was his favorite sport
Yes, of course, it was Charlie’s forte

Harley decided she’d fix him good
Lit a fire, right there, in the street
Charlie took off, like a bat out of hell
The flames catching on to his seat

And that was the end of his lazy days
He would run, every time he saw Harley
Never again, would he let time waste away
Staying idle, was no longer for Charlie
