It was November, and the chill in the air was not from the cold…

Night fell across the snow covered mountains, but something felt strangely different, something was amiss. The orb, which had been glowing so brightly the night before, was no longer glowing at all. It was seemingly a dead rock, just floating in space. Its light had been extinguished, making the Earth much colder than ever before. Even the stars lost their twinkle. The world suddenly turned to black and white.

Not far in the distance, a diabolical laugh, sent shock waves through the mountains…

He had returned.

The night was peaceful, yet carried an eerie feel with it. Waters under the old bridge were unusually calm, a mist was gathering in the trees. The sudden silence didn’t last for very long, a rumble from below made its way across the land. “An earthquake?!” someone shouted.

The bridge, once the center of the town’s joy, began to crumble. Bricks fell into the waters below, a deafening sound. Then it was gone. No bridge to cross. The town folk, startled from sleep, were stuck on the other side, with no way out.

All because a troll had to sneeze.

Soon it would be nightfall, which would surely seal their fate…

The full moon made its way from behind the dark clouds. The night was black as pitch, but she knew he was close by. The low growl he was emitting was hard to miss, against the silence of the night. A rustle of leaves meant he was on the move and would soon be joining her. She waited.

The time of the full moon, when he and she would be one. Yet, neither knew which one they’d ultimately become. Only The Fates knew what the final outcome would be.

The Hidden Marker – #100words – #JuneWriting

Could it be that this was where the marker was hidden? There had to be rows of stones, and no possible way for me to find it, before sunset.

I had a task to complete, and complaining wasn’t going to get it done. I started, row by row, hoping a clue would lead me in the right direction. After several hours, I wasn’t any closer to finding it.

But wait! I saw a glint of what I thought might be it! Yes, I found it! My pink highlighter! Buried in the stones. I bet that brat, Reggie, threw it here.

Authors Note:  Michelle called me out on my first day’s proclamation of keeping the writing prompts to 100 words.  I don’t want her to do that again, so, here we are, back to 100 words.  Unless, of course, I have an enormous amount to say.  Then, no promises.

The Quest ~ #OctoberWriting

It was risky but there was this overwhelming desire to just do it. What if something went wrong? She was being silly. Nothing could go wrong. She made her way through the path, toward the ivy covered towers, and through to the castle doors. Pushing hard against them, she entered the chamber, cautiously looking about, hoping to find nothing or no one that would put a stop to her quest. As she turned again, there he stood. Her heart stopped, as a sinister sneer crept across his face. She encountered the one thing she never gave a second thought. Death.
